No upper cabinets? Where do you put your cups/glasses?
Comments (18)We have two 12" deep cabinets under the island (24" deep drawers backed by the 12" cabs). I told the designer he was crazy that I'd never use them. He told me I'd love them. He wins! I love them. One has glasses, cups, plastic kid stuff, water bottles, etc etc.... The other has lunch boxes, coolers, and all of the assorted things that go in them. Next to the stove we have a small upper cabinet that has some nicer glasses (tall beer glasses, etc..) and random mugs in it. The coffee mugs we use every day are above the coffee & tea makers. Wine glasses are in a cabinet next to the fridge with the wine. I wound up splitting up my old huge corner glasses cabinet into 4 places in the new kitchen and it makes so much more sense. Nothing is buried way in the back and everything is where we use it....See MoreWhat do you store in smaller upper cabinets?
Comments (13)Future kitchen will have 18" stacked uppers on top of 36" cabs. I do not have a lot of space but I can go up. In the new kitchen an already in place small hall closet/pantry next to kitchen will be put to better use. A lot of the items from pantry closet and little used items clogging my space will be moved up to the 18" stacked, such as, Hurricane cooking supplies like portable propane burners & more, also, extra vases, patio serving stuff, party glassware, little used sm electric fryer and many other used but little used items that I need. My above frig cab in new kitchen will be deeper and things that are little used, but more often used than the stuff in the 18" cabs will go there as well as the above range cab. Most often used items will all be housed in conveniently reachable cabs, drawers or susan. Spices will be in two six" pulloutsÂcant wait for that as the only place for them now is in the susan which I at first loved and now hate because it takes forever to find what I want. So, pretty much IÂm working my way down in an order of use except the pull-out spice cabs will go on the 36" wall run do to my back not liking to bend and not enough room for extra drawer base....See MoreWhat do you put in your 15 inch upper wall cabinets?
Comments (15)I would mark off the interior space on a flat surface (consider if your face frames to block part of the access). Put the stuff you want to store in the taped off area to give you a better idea of what might fit. You might only get one stack of bowls there, and maybe 3 columns of glasses. In my old kitchen, I had a corner cabinet with an angled door that was maybe 15". I used it for glasses. There was plenty of space in the cabinet, but the door really limited access and I hated it. If possible, consider a drawer for smaller spices or else they will be buried behind one another and difficult to locate and access....See MoreDo you use above the second shelf of your upper cabinets?
Comments (4)I lowered all my shelves so that it’s easier for my shorter adult family members and kids can reach plates, glasses, etc. and I avoid stacking. The top shelves are for items that are more decorative or infrequently used....See Morekatiee511
