Bill, Mongo...can you look at this please?
Comments (6)No, that ain't happening. This is a practice many installers, for some reason seem to like-- putting 1/4" cement board over greenboard. First off, it's more expensive and more time consuming, because you've got two layers you're paying to install, labor and materials. Secondly, it's just as bad as if you'd installed directly over the greenboard. Neither tile and grout, NOR durock, is waterproof, and water WILL get to the greenboard. Tell him he needs to rip that all out and install a 6 mil polyethlene or 15 pound tar paper vapor barrier over the studs, and then 1/2" durock DIRECTLY over that....See MorePersil Pro-Caps and Up & Up Spring Bloom Softener
Comments (35)You could definitely have a point that I didn't think about. I just started a new bottle of spring bloom with the load I discussed above. This makes total sense and could describe the differences in the experiences other than just the water. If the companies do not have stringent quality control (and in a way why would they?) there may be differences in the production runs. This could be enough of a difference to vary the experiences we all have. They may figure that subtle variations in batches will go completely un-noticed.......See MoreBlueStar still a good choice? - better options??
Comments (17)Blue Star all the way. If I move my RNB goes with me, period. My husband and I spent more than a year researching and going from big box type appliance stores to local appliance stores and even drove out of state to look and get varying opinions. In the end it came down to Wolf or BS and we went with the BS. I called and spoke to the area rep for BS and purchased from a local (albeit franchise) appliance store that will provide service and I called and spoke to persons at the BS home office, if that is the right term. I asked about the supposed issues that had cropped up with the first run of these ranges and he was very honest with me and pointed out all the flaws that they had encountered. He assured me that they had fixed the issues and listened to their customers. After asking the sales reps they backed that up. One thing to keep in mind is that stores profit differently from each brand so you have to take some recommendations with a grain of salt. All brands have their flaws and kinks when buying a high end appliance so just go into it knowing that. One thing that really helped sway us is when the contractor came into our home to measure and look at the space we wanted to have our range installed at. We talked quite a bit about what I was looking for in a range (power, as little electronics as possible, American made if possible, reliable, etc.). At the end of the conversation he asked why were buying a Wolf...it took me aback. He said I should be buying a BS if those were the things I wanted and he asked why we didn't consider it. I explained that we had considered BS but Wolf, I mean come on, Wolf! He just kind of laughed and said buy what you want but I am a contactor, I build luxury homes and restaurants so I have seen the best of the best and BS is the range you want. This guy wasn't getting anything other than his install fee and I hadn't even mentioned my interest in BS. He just contracts with the appliance store to install their high end appliances (he gets a discount with the homes he builds I am sure) so he really had no "dog in the race" and the appliance store we used sold both brands. That went a long way for us and we are super happy with our choice. Sorry this post is so long!...See MoreDo NOT buy from Norman's Orchids - orchids.com
Comments (29)Hi Elsa, no they are not OK with cold. I said I paid extra $15 to Norman's Orchids to get a plant in bloom and they sent me a plant without a bloom stalk even. And no tag. So, I would NOT RECOMMEND TO BUY FROM THIS SELLER orchids.com. It was not just one time - 4 times in the row. I was still hoping they will send me good plants. I am afraid to buy online after this bad experience, but heard that there are better sellers....See Morera
