Not sure what you told the police but there's two potential issues on which they should have at least investigated. One is hit & run and the other is leaving the scene of an accident.

People threaten to sue all the time. I got such a kick out of being threatened and calling peoples' bluffs.

Back to the topic, I guess the one that makes me shake my head is the stupid commercial for those chair lift things that go up steps with their solution to people falling. "Just don't fall!" Gee, why didn't we think of that before? I now have the cure for cancer. "Just don't get cancer!" And "Just don't break bones", "Just don't die", Just don't get sick" It's just so easy I guess.

I took some comforters to the laundromat a week or so ago, thinking the place would be deserted on a cold Sunday afternoon.

I hadn't even started the machine when a woman came in with 2 boys, probably about 9, 10, maybe 11 years old.

They were, as my country aunt would have said, heatherns.

They ran up & down, they battedwasher & dryer doors, scooted the wheeled carts around, came very close to crashing into me a number of times, yelled at each other, & ran in & out of the building, fanning cold air into the laundromat.

Their mother (I guess) would ignore them until they got extremely loud or pushed a cart too aggressively, & then she'd, say, in a very calm, soothing voice,
"Kevin, Michael. Stop that."

& then she'd say,
"Take these quarters & get some candy out of the machine & sit down quietly with your candy."

She must have given each one of them over $1 in quarters.

When the younger one climbed on top of my washing machine, I stopped dead in my tracks & looked at him.

Although his mother was facing me (our machines were back-to-back), she evidently didn't see me, but she did see him, because she said, about 5 times, very calmly,
"Michael, get down from there."

His brother did see me & did actually tell Michael he needed to get down.

but Michael didn't.

until their mother gave them each another quarter.

When her laundry was done, she told them to check the dryers to find one that was still warm, so they banged their hands against every single dryer.

When the clothes were dry, they did something else, I forget what, & she took out her cell phone & said, "That's it. I'm calling your father."

They paused long enough for her to load the clothes into the car, & then, realizing that they were about to leave the candy machines, they asked her for another quarter.

& she said...

"no. I'm not rewarding your bad behavior."

& I snorted.
I didn't do it on purpose, but I snorted.

but since she hadn't seen me when I was facing her when Kevin was sitting on the washer, I don't know if she heard me either.

The other day I was traveling North, stopped at a red light in left turn lane and waiting for light to change. Finally, the left-hand turn green arrow and two lanes of traffic making a left. I was in the outer left-hand lane because I would be making a right after the turn. Both lanes had passed over main road and entering the side street when I almost collided with a car making a right turn. This guy laid on his horn for at least a block. Say what???? He had to be trying to beat the red light and making a right-hand turn on red. Why was he so angry with me? I was the only one making a legal turn at that point. He can only make a right on red if traffic is clear. I can't even give him the benefit of doubt as to starting to make the turn before our light turned green because I had a longer distance to travel than he did on the turn and the car on my left was ahead of me!

Yikes!

sounds like road rage to me, probably fueled by something that nothing to do with driving, left turn arrows, or the possibility of crashing into somebody.

Your story reminded me:

On a "business" highway (many lanes but many stop lights & no designated exits, you just turn right from the right lane, & left from designated turn lanes), the highway goes under a freeway.

There are left turn lanes for northbound traffic to turn onto the westbound highway access road, & for southbound traffic to turn eastward.

A northbound driver, distracted or ain't never been to town before, crossed the double yellow line & drove into the southbound traffic's left turn lane.

Driving the wrong way, he turned onto the westbound access road.

Whaddya bet he got half a mile down the road & went, "What?"

A few years at church the communion was being passed around. A visiting boy about 10 or so, old enough to know better, got up and was following the men around trying to drink one of the little cups. I motioned him over to me and whispered in his ear to go sit down by his mother. He did but why didn't she stop him.

Another traffic one. I was getting gas at a station that was on the corner of two four lane roads. Traffic was still light before the start of rush hour. I was watching to see which road would be easiest to exit on to. When I heard the ambulance coming, cars were still going through the intersection, then I saw the ambulance cars still were going through the intersection when the ambulance tried to cautiously go through the intersection a car nearly hit it. He would have broad sided it, if the ambulance driver had not braked. My first thought was what if that was your loved one in the back of the ambulance, jacka$$. It shouldn't matter an ambulance fire or cop with their lights on siren going have the right of way. Dumb entitled people.

Had one of those door to do sales people come by yesterday selling cleaning supplies. This one of those people they drop off in your neighborhood and pick up a few hours later.

My daughter accidentally opened the door because she thought it was a kid from down the street. Anyway, the women came to the door and started giving me some story about a first job and keeping people from doing robberies and other criminal acts. She said the reason she was hopping from foot to foot was because she needed to pee. I realized the next thing she was going to want to do was come inside my house. I told her I was not interested. She kept trying to talk to me and I told her again I wasn't interested and went inside.

She went next door and told the neighbor there I had slammed the door in her face. I hadn't. I was polite to to her. Then she asked my neighbor to come inside and use her bathroom. The neighbor thought she was on drugs and also told her no and told her there was a port-a-potty around the corner. Then she asked my neighbor's name. Of course, she didn't give her that either.

This woman was sitting on the curb a couple of hours later apparently waiting for her ride. I hope her walk was good for her. I'm tired of people like this coming around every year with their scams.

I used to work a butcher shop that custom killed and processed peoples beef. I would call them for their cutting instructions: How big did they want their roasts, how many pounds of burger in a package, etc.

One lady I called, when I came to the steaks, I asked her how would she like her steaks cut (standard 3/4 inch, 1 inch etc) she told me she would like all her steaks cut into T-bones. I was taken somewhat by surprise, and said, pardon me. She replied, in fact cut the whole beef into T-bones. Say what!!! And this lady raises beef!!! I told her if I could do that , I would be a millionaire.

Had to explain all the parts of the carcass to her to get her to understand what cuts of meat come from what part of the animal to get her cutting instructions.
