A. Brian Williams...how hardy, and parents?
Comments (12)I've read that hot summers allow marginal plants to store up for the winter, and where the summers are not so hot--like the northern California coast--things may be lost in a milder winter than where they have had a long hot summer. Don't know if that was someone's theory or something that's been tested out, but it makes sense to me. Gotta be SOME benefit to stewing in our own juices all summer long!...See MoreLook out metallica, the princess is here!
Comments (9)Grabmebymyhandle, they're selling similar plants to that in the big nurseries here. Unfortunately they're only labelling it "Alocasia", very informative, NOT! Looks like some of the hybridisers here might be on the same track. Miketropic, I've been trying to find out the name of the plant in your photo for ages. No one seemed to know on any of the forums I've been on. It's a really huge plant, towers over top of you....See MoreI love EE's....... (w/pics)
Comments (33)Hi Tom, Thanks for the picture. I like seeing pictures of other EE's and that's a nice one. From what I know, it's Alocasia Wentii. My Borneo Giant is still small, but is all green. Wentii is one of my favorites because of the maroon underleaf. Veronica, I was planning on donating whatever plants I have left, to USF botanical garden, after the trade we have set up there on 7/5/08. I donated yellow variegated EE's one time. There's someone different running the place now, so will see what she says. They accept donations to sell, so they will only take sellable plants....which makes sense in that case. I was hoping they would plant one in the gardens, but I never saw any. I bought the Variegated monstera at USF Botanical Gardens. They get them in every once in awhile and sell them for $15.00. There is someone in Tampa with a large Aroid collection and they donate to the garden. Martina...See MoreAlocasia Brian Williams. My first hybrid
Comments (2)This plant will grow over 5ft if not over 7 or 8. It much hardier easier and faster than most others offered. One parrent was very showy giving the alocasia its veins and maroon under the leafs. The other parent grows fast and very very big....See Morecarolb_w_fl_coastal_9b
