Alocasia Brian Williams. My first hybrid

This is one I hope will get about 7ft tall. Its easier to grow faster and good looking. I planted one out in the ground here and it did very well.

Brian, what makes this alocasia distinctive from others. It looks much like others I've seen in that size range. Has it proven itself to grow tall? I would love to see a large one that looks like this one. Best of luck with your seedling!!!

This plant will grow over 5ft if not over 7 or 8. It much hardier easier and faster than most others offered. One parrent was very showy giving the alocasia its veins and maroon under the leafs. The other parent grows fast and very very big.

Ya, he's fussy here too and I'm ready to kick him. Mine is no where as dark green as aimee's. It's light green in Miracle-Gro potting soil. He whimpers in the 90's hot sun. I moved him to partial shade, he's bushier now, but produces tiny flowers, and the fragrance is zero when it's cooler. I like Wise Portia (older Austin) a zillion times better than WS, it's bushier, more blooms, and nice baby powder fragrance. I'll get the Squire next year as Kim recommends. Its flower is supposed to be bigger. How's the Squire's fragrance? Thanks.

I concur with you guys about the fact that my cultivar is NOT a "La Paz" but its cousin "Lima"; I received such bulb -sadly- with the wrong label. I exclude it is a "Jungle Star". "La Paz" tend to be more red, as indicated in the photograph posted by paxfleur. "La Paz" (Fred Meyer), "Lima" (Fred Meyer), and "Emerald" (Fred Meyer) are hybrids H.Papilio/H. Cybister.
