Has anyone painted stair risers black? something besides white?
Comments (21)I see what you mean about grounding the stairway. I can show these pics to her. She also has heart pine in the foyer and on the stair treads. It's right as you come in the front door, so the dirty risers are in your face. Adding something such as a rug wouldn't work, as she can't lose any space on those treads. Originally the stairway was to have a landing and then turn. Supposedly the previous owner/builder enlarged the upstairs bathroom and had to change the stairway. Now it comes straight down. When the kids were younger, my sis would threaten them about running, afraid they would break their necks. I'm happy to report, they're still in one piece:) ah, but those narrow treads!...See Moreshould i paint the risers white?
Comments (31)We agreed to restain the floors to bring the shade closer to the stairs color. We will do 50% Jacobean with 50 ebony, which will tone down the very brown floor. As for risers they will get painted white. Today is a better day. I am not used to rift quarter sawn, but replacing 2000 sq ft of floor is not an option. Hopefully, it will grow on me. Maybe with the darker stain I won't mind it as much. The stairs steps is very zebra looking, but by painting the risers white that too shall tone down a bit. Is it true that the second coat of stain doesn't get absorbed as much as the initial coat. I don't want a black floor. Has anyone done the 50/50 mix?...See MoreWhat should I do with my stair stringer? Paint, Stain, Other?
Comments (2)Paint it the same color as the wall to make it visually disappear. Alternately, add wood paneling the same finish as the rails to the wall beneath the stairs....See MoreHow to paint oak risers on stairs
