Homecrest vs Brookhaven Cabinetry
Comments (5)I'm a KD and I have used HC in the past. I'm just a bit familiar with Brookhaven from coming here over the years. Homecrest should be less money, but IMHO, Brookhaven has a much better finish. I think Brookhaven is considered a 'semi-custom', while Homecrest is a 'stock line'. I used to carry HC and when we would upgrade the drawers and add in the plywood, you would be up in the semi-custom price range. Most of our clients would at least upgrade the drawers....so we finally dropped HC because our customers were buying our semi-custom line instead. Maybe things have changed over the last 5 years, so price them both out. If price were not a factor, I'd go with Brookhaven. Kompy...See MoreWoodmade's Brookhaven (Frameless) vs Kitchen Craft
Comments (3)I have Brookhaven and would get them again (love the framelss). I got them because they were one of the few available in frameless that we could find at the time, the finish was finer than most, the value was good, we could mix with Woodmode cabinets and features and in all my searching, I didn't find any significant problems or complaints with Brookhaven. I'm not clear if the Kitchen Craft are also frameless or framed. If they are framed, there may be a visual difference and you may prefer one over the other. If you have framed cabinets with a full overlay, they will look similar. Framed will also have part of the cabinet box covered by the frame -- similar to the way a photo will have an edge covered by the mat or frame. That can make it more difficult to access your cabinet space or use it fully -- and it in my old cabinets, it made a huge difference in the drawers I had. Going with frameless cabinets really helped get better use of our space, which was important since we could not change the footprint. If the Kitchen Kraft are framed, I'd definitely go with Brookhaven. Oh, Brookhaven has 13" deep uppers standard -- and that can be just enough difference to get larger plates or bowls, one more row of glasses, etc in your cabinets....See MoreBrookhaven vs Medallion vs Dura Supreme?
Comments (25)elisalinscott - I know a few people that have Dura Supreme cabinets and love them. My mother has some that are about 7 years old I think and she loves them still. I'm planning a kitchen remodel in the next 2-3 years and have been seriously considering them. When I was looking at reviews I ran into a site called kitchencabinetsreviews.com and got thrown off, but I was curious what organization the site was with, it didn't say how they were really associated with cabinets. Then I looked up who owns the web address and found that the owner of that website also is the owner of a website for an online cabinet company called US Home Products that sells MidContinent cabinetry which seemed kind of odd if you ask me. I've seen a few other review sites that look fishy for other products too. You gotta be careful where you get your advice. The best thing to do is find someone who actually owns the product and also see it and test it in person. Hopefully HAGS00 will respond and let us know what they think of their purchase. I'd love to know too....See Morepics of Woodmode cabinets (and a couple of Brookhaven)
Comments (13)hi, I'm back! was a busy weekend. I spent many a long summer day on Nauset Beach. It is THE best. I am north of Boston in Cape Ann. Bethpen, that is great that your cabinets are holding up so well. My in-laws have them in their kitchen and they are really nice, but I think they spent in the order of $60-70K on the cabinets alone. I priced them when we did our kitchen and they came in at the high end ($34K). We went with Crown Point whose original quote was about $26K (we managed to add a few items and I think the final was pushing $28K). The Woodmode cabinets I saw the other day were really beautiful and they had been highly customized by my teacher so I got a lot of good ideas. School has been a great adventure. I am loving it. So far it isn't taking too much of a toll on anyone. I stay up late to do my homework so that it doesn't come out of the kids time. Angelina... I did not get the color names on those cabinets. Sorry not to be able to help with that. Is your sample on the way? When I looked at Woodmode, the dealer had a number of kitchens set up and all the door styles and colors to see. Is your dealer close enough to visit? Good luck with it. Picking the cabinet color was the hardest part for me (and made a little easier by the fact that we opted to save money by not going with a custom color... I can't even imagine the headaches that'd caused). Good luck....See Morelstryer
