There you are. Haven't seen you around in a while. Was starting to worry about youâ¦..No, never liked chocolate covered cherries. I think my Mom did. I sort of remember themâ¦.how else would I know that I didn't like them. LOL

Love them but don't usually buy them. Why? Can't stay out of them.

My Mother in law used to always buy them for the kids at Christmas. I like them but can only tolerate maybe two of them a year :) I tried the Hershey's Cherry Kisses and they taste a lot like them.

As far back as I can remember, I have always gotten at least one box of them for my father for Christmas. I like them, but they are so sweet that I can only eat one...and it takes days before I'm ready for another one.

My Dad loved them and it was a tradition to buy them every Christmas for him. I can eat them but don't love them, but every time I do eat one (or see them) I think of him.

I don't care for them. They are too sweet. They are also a mess to eat when you bite into the chocolate and the goo dribbles all over. I am glad others enjoy them.

Anymore they seem too sweet to me....I agree with dedtired.

My Scots-immigrant grandmother loved them, but then she came from a world where babies were soothed to bed with a sugar cube in their mouths. (Not a lot of teeth left in those mouths!)

I like dark chocolate, and I always eat the cherry in a Manhattan, but these candies taste cloyingly sweet to me.

My DH claims *nothing* is 'too sweet' for him!

They were always a Christmas must-have, but I haven't had any for a long time. I have just kinda forgotten about them. They were too sweet.

Chocolate covered cherries always remind me of a KTer who loved them and that was the one thing she hoped for at Christmas. Some of you will remember "catlady" (Judy) who used to post here often. She was a real sweet lady who had some health problems which had improved over time. She often mentioned her DH who was a wood cutter and sold the wood for income. They have a daughter named (I believe, Ashley) She married and had a little boy who was Judy's delight, and she was expecting another child at the the time Judy stopped posting.

It is odd how some people are unforgettable, and to me Judy is.

We always had the boxed kind, Brach's chocolate covered cherries, with money taped to the bottom :o)

I'm with aqr32583. Cella's is the only brand I would buy, if you ever tried them you wouldn't think that they are sickeningly sweet. I think it's the white cream in the center that makes that type too sweet. The liquid centers are perfect. IMHO

This post makes me think of my Mom. Nice memories at Christmas time.

Like several above, I've never been a fan. I never like the white oozy goo in them, plus they are too sweet, probably to hide the fact that the chocolate isn't very good. Someone gave me a large jar of dark chocolate covered dried cherries, and those I liked quite a bit, to the point of hiding them so my wife would eat them all.

Some are better than others. Proud of myself because so far this year I've resisted, but it's not over yet. lol

I buy a box when I see them even though for some reason they make me cough horribly. I used to love that cherry candy bar that was round and called Cherry-a-Let. Now it's called Big Cherry, is hard to find and doesn't taste as good. I have seen them at CVS.

I like fresh cherries dipped in chocolate, the ones with the stem still attached and the pit inside. They're as yummy as chocolate dipped fresh strawberries. Cherries are usually only available from a few growers and boutique shops and only during the fruit's short season (June).

The confection that goes by a similar name is very different. They use processed (maraschino) cherries and much too much sugar for my taste.

My husband loves the cello ccc's. I like them all! :)

Yup, love ALL kinds of chocolate covered cherries, and when unavailable (because up here they're usually only out around Christmas time) I'm an unbiased, undiscriminating chocoholic.....I go for Cherry Blossoms which are available all year round ;)

CCC remind me of my grandmother. She usually had a box on hand. As a child, it's what I would always think of to buy her for any gift-giving occasion.

Cella's brand is what my local grocer carries. I have eaten 2 boxes in the last few weeks and won't be buying any more this year.

Oh, oh, oh....and mint patties! That is another Christmas thing. We would always get one of those slim boxes of mint patties. When we got older, if we were extra lucky, we got a box of After Eight mint wafers. And a life saver book. They have them still, but there are only two or three rolls of life savers in them now.

And I forgot about those little boxes of rosebuds, macaroons, peanut clusters, I can't remember what else (bridge mixture?). That was another treat we used to get from a certain great aunt.

And always a chocolate Santa from my grandparents. I remember those chocolate santas being so good, now they are gross.

Yes, I remember my Mom buying them for Christmas every year .Pure nostalgia.

I'm happy to see so many Cella lovers.
A couple years ago one of my kids told grandma I liked ccc's, so she bought me the cherries and Blueburries with the white centers, for Christmas. I just thanked her and later gave them to my son. Finally months later I got up the nerve to tell her I just can't get myself to eat the white centers but I do like cella's clear centers. She didn't quite understand what I was telling her but at least I won't have an unexpected GAG gift. Usually I'll buy a box of 10 Cella's and make that last the winter. yum!

I posted earlier about not liking them, too sweet...I think here they are Queen Anne. I saw others saying Cella's was good, bought some and yes, much better. Thanks for the tip!

My first real job was working in a canning company. After I saw how the cherries were prepared for fruit salad, and candy or anything else for that matter, I have never put another one in my mouth. I usually have some on hand to put out for the holidays, but not for me.

In my younger days, I loved chocolate covered cherries; In fact, chocolate covered peanuts are high on my list as well. Sadly, these days, these goodies are not on my diet except sparingly on special occasions. The carbohydrate load is too much.

We like them, but in very small quantities - two is plenty. We prefer the dark chocolate.

I've always loved the Cella's too, light or dark, I don't care, and they're about the cheapest you can buy. I thought I'd forego them this year, but this thread made my mouth water. Had to go to WalMart yesterday so I thought I'd pick up a box, but couldn't find the Cella's! I didn't buy the off brand, but will look around for the real thing. I did see some that were blueberry though. I've never seen those before. Not a blueberry lover, I got a couple of boxes for my son.

Years ago I worked with a gal whose aunt made homemade chocolate covered brandied cherries. I thought I'd died and gone to heaven!!!

Glenda.....shopping in Spanish Fort this evening and saw the Brach's choclolate covered cherries in the Rouse's Supermarket! I don't know if that chain is in B'ham tho, but thought of you.

No Brach's anywhere in my area. I bought a brand I had never seen before at Dollar General.. THey are wrapped and moneys taped on the bottom.of each box.

Have you ever dropped a chocolate covered cherry into your coffee????!!! Oh my...Delicious!
