Amazon Prime is now $99 a year. Billed as a lump sum, not monthly. Streaming is of course, just one of the offerings (I love the free quick shipping on lots of items). For us, it is worth it. But there are things we'd like to watch that are an additional charge, even some of the older shows. You can (or at least you could when we joined earlier this year) try it free for a month and see if it offers what you would like.

DH has it, and uses it a lot

Those additional fees for certain shows are what worry me.
We want to use it for certain TV shows that Hulu doesn't stream.
For example, Cindy just watched the 1st season of Reign on Netflix. Only one season was available. With Hulu plus, season 2 starts at episode 6, so she missed the first 5 episodes. Amazon has those episodes. This same scenario applies to other TV shows as well.
Also, Hulu plus doesn't stream shows for some networks, like CBS.
If we miss an episode of one of our Shows I'd like to be able to stream it on the TV.
Hope I'm making sense. It's too early in the morning for a Bear of little brain.

I understand what you are saying--I've run into the same situation with some shows.

Amazon Prime does offer a free 30-day trial period. You should try it; then you can decide if you want to keep it.

As for "Reign" (one of my favorite shows): Netflix will likely pick up season 2 around the time that season 3 starts.

Nice to see you Pooh Bear!! We have been going back and forth trying to decide whether to dump satellite tv and go with Hulu/Netflix. Will probably get there eventually.

I did the 30 day free trial for Amazon Prime to watch the first four seasons of Downton Abbey. I also ordered some Christmas presents and took advantage of the free shipping. Then I canceled. I would recommend taking advantage of the 30 day free trial and see what you think of it.

I found the option to browse through the offerings on Amazon streaming.
Almost all of the shows have a $1.99 cost associated with them. If I was a Prime member and signed in would these be free to watch? I also see some shows from HBO and Starz. Would these also be available to watch without further costs?
I have found most shows I like. But I don't want any extra or hidden costs.
I'll talk to Cindy about trying the free trial.

Oh, a lot of the shows are 99 cents or a dollar and 99 cents if you want to watch them in HD, but free if you just want "regular".

I have Amazon Prime, but I have never used the streaming. I can't find any free shows. Everything has a price, and I already have Netflix. Can you tell me where to find the free content on Amazon?

Log into your account, then go to the prime section. Type in "free tv" and a whole bunch will come up.

Do you also get free movies or is it just free TV?
Most of the movies I saw were the same stuff at RedBox at 4x the cost;
unless the cost listed is for non prime members.

Yes, some movies are free, but we haven't really explored that part yet. We just got the FireStick and boy, is that little thing fast! No more standing at the laptop we've connected to the television. It also works with hulu and Netflix.

I have a smart TV for our main viewing, and another TV with a Roku box.

While I'm browsing the TV shows on Amazon I have noticed that some have 3 prices listed: (Prime logo) free, Season pass $xx.99, Episode $1.99
For the shows that don't have the (Prime logo) free listed, are those available for streaming at no extra cost?

I have had prime for 2 years and have never paid any additional viewing fees.
I generally don't watch television series, but a lot of movies.
One feature I really like is recommendations based on other movies I've watched. I've been fortunate enough to see some things I would have never found or given a second look.
The shipping alone is worth the prime fee for me. I buy almost all my gifts on Amazon. 10 or so purchases and I break even. the "free" movies, books and music are a bonus.

I use it all the time. We watch some things that are no additional charge with Prime and pay for some things. Even paying sometimes it is FAR cheaper than what we used to pay for cable with hundreds of channels but nothing we wanted to watch, not to mention the 20 mins of commercials for every hour of programming. I'd rather pay the nominal fees and not have the advertising.

We also buy a lot of stuff from Amazon so take advantage of the two day Prime shipping.

There is a large selection of FREE tv and movies! Not all are free though. But the free stuff is quite a bit, so I search around and add the free ones I want to see to be watch list. Currently watching a 20 episode feature on WWII. Had started to watch Vikings Season 1 as well. Watched Airplane a few days back,lol Helps kill the time on the Elliptical machine!
