Please help make my house less awkward!
Comments (89)Nikki, the picture-framing error hasn't been made on your house yet. It's a builder error that happens when builders install wider trim molding today, which, when done right, is something that I strongly believe improves the appearance of a house and I always suggest. The bottom of the window is supposed to have a sill that is narrower than the side casings and a cap on the top header casing. These can be seen on the third and fourth houses posted above by gypsysalvage. However, some contractors put the same width trim around the entire window, all four sides. That makes it look more like a hole in the wall. The sill on the bottom and proper header casings give a window a completed base and crown on the bottom and top. Here is another photo showing excellent trim being installed. This example looks particularly Craftsman, but if you use a different window itself and downsize the crown, it will be more stylistically neutral and will look good on nearly any wood-framed wall. (Note that windows in masonry walls should not have side casings and the headers should be flush with the rest of the masonry.)...See MoreEze-Breeze Inside or Outside mount?
Comments (6)I possibly don't fully understand your new build, but I don't see any reason to have a railing where the EZE Breeze wall of windows is positioned. Here are examples of the rooms with decks or patios attached. Here are some pics of the room with the railings on the outside, but it might be due to the type of windows selected. CHECK with EZE Breeze. That's what they are there for....See MoreHelp me compare Patio Enclosures 3 Season vs. Porch with Eze-Breeze?

Comments (5)We had weathermaster SUNSPACE windows and doors installed last year in our cottage screen porch. They have been FABULOUS, allowing us to enjoy the screen porch bug free, and protecting us from the wind and rain we needed. They also kept the snow out in the winter. However… We have recently had some problems with both the doors (one not staying closed, one difficult to open) as well as some problems with one set of the windows (the four panels would spontaneously fall to bottom leaving the space exposed to the elements with just the screen in place). The sunspace people have been by to check and service them. Hopefully the problem has been properly fixed. I am concerned though, because even when it was a problem, it was intermittent, (maybe related to temperature?). So I am worried that even if it seems like they fixed it it might not stay fixed. I certainly hope the company will stand by their product if the problem recurs. Stay tuned. I will report back as needed!...See Morecarolinew82
