Finally Got My Kidney

Was on dialysis 9 years,On Thanksgiving eve they called me.I got the kidney on Thanksgiving .All I know is it wasa 29 yr old male.Feeling great,everyone says I look good ,Im doing even better than doctors expected.Ready to get on with life finally...

I've just found a piece that is kind of like mine except twice the size and weight and it is selling for $4,500 so my neighbor's estimate might be a little low. I've wrote to the seller and gave him a link to my pictures. I'd be a happy camper if it turns out to be worth a couple thousand dollars. Thank you Manuel. The Rhipsalis pilocarpa has always hung in our bay window, first downstairs then upstairs. It is a south window that is blocked by a tree so it gets east light and some west. Thirty years ago we removed the ceiling in the bedroom where the bay window is. Last Fall we hung chain up in that area so I could put hanging plants there.

Oh my gosh, I finally got a pressure canner... now what?

Well, now there's all kinds of stuff you are able to can, with a pressure canner! I had to look up that brand, I'd never even heard of it. First, you can put the stuff in smaller jars, just not bigger ones. So process the half pints for the same time you do pints. And you can do pumpkin and winter squash, but in cubes, not in puree. You can process broth, stock, vegetables, soups, all kinds of things. Right now on my shelves I have chili, split pea soup, french onion soup, chicken, beef and duck stocks, cabbage roll soup, base for chicken noodle soup or chicken rice soup, cubes of beef, sweet and sour chicken (which I haven't tried yet, so I can't make rash promises). I had a problem canning dried beans, about half of them unsealed and the beans just soaked up the liquid, leving the beans dry and overcooked. I haven't had time to try again since then. I've canned salmon and taco filling and beef stew, as well as most of my garden vegetables. You cannot safely can pureed squash/pumpkin, as it is too thick and heat penetration is an issue. Noodles and pasta turn to mush, they're disgusting and dairy is pretty much a no-go. Flour used as thickener will clump and cornstarch loses it's thickening power, ClearJel is the way to go when canning. Some approved recipes have a little butter or fat in them, but not a lot. you must be a special person...because it took them a Long time to find a special kidney just for you.

How wonderful for you. I too have kidney problems and am on Peritoneal. I do my pt at night. I feel 95% better every day. I think it is great that you are feeling so well. Come back and visit often you have been missed. Your seat is always ready at the table.

I saw this post on the Recent Posts on the right. Congratulations to you. My former husband is on dialysis and waiting for a kidney. I always wonder what life is like on dialysis. Do you feel pretty good most of the time? I imagine it is a big nuisance having to go through that procedure so often.

I hope your new kidney lasts a million years.

Thank you everybody you made my day,Im still recovering I just got the new kidney on Thanksgiving.It was quite an ordeal,pretty rough in fact but Ive been thru so much in life I kept fighting.Alot of tests,alot of drugs
,I had a huge incision.they took one kidney out put a new one in.all I know is it was a 29 yr man.
That's what the drs kept saying we want your kidney we want the best for me.I got it.Its working great.

To dedtired you wanted to know what it is like on dialysis. I was on dialysis for about a year and you feel so exhausted after a treatment. The only good days were on Sat and Sun and then it started all over again on Monday. Very exhausting for me. I was so weak after a treatment it was hard for me to walk out of the clinic and climb into our car. Now that I do Peritoneal at night while I sleep I feel about 95% normal.
