Cotton bedding suggestions needed for DD with eczema
Comments (28)oceanna: Thank you for passing along the related thread. Poor little baby! I was very lucky with all my three babies that they did not have these problems--probably because I breastfed and delayed introduction on solids, esp. dairy which is where my problems were. I was able to clear my food allergies through NAET, when about 5-years ago I suddenly became sensitized to many foods, and today eat whatever I want. I think I cleared my DD also through NAET, but with environmental/chemical sensitivies we have not had much success. We've been dealing with this for over 2-years now and have tried many different things so while my goal is still to uncover and correct the root of the problem we found it was like layers of an onion, you peel one away only to find another. It's been a long road for DD and she gets very discouraged, esp. when I alter her diet too much and with little improvement. My DH and I did look at the food intolerances for the different races and blood types and found it quite fascinating, though going that route would be a last resort which we could possibly try over the summer. Right now she is on homeopathy, which aggravates her condition in the short term, so I don't want to change too many things at once. With my DD she has more scabby patches from scratching in various stages of healing. Probably the worst trigger though are her shin guards--she plays competitive soccer and is in spring season. I do not have the heart to pull her out so can relate to the comments about exercise induced asthma. In fact, DD has a few girls on her team with that condition and always tells me she is glad she only has eczema as at least she does not have to sit out due to an asthmatic attack in a game. On the bedding front, I was able to find some bedding in both Pottery Barn Kids and PB teen which is Oeko-tex certified plus some all cotton duvet inserts (both summer and winter weights) from Cuddledown, depending on if she prefers a duvet or quilt. I plan to show it to her this weekend and am crossing my fingers she'll find something she likes....See MoreRU roses planted & other stuff...
Comments (34)Ok all flowers are finally planted Straw! LOL We really love Earthsongs blooms! I really hope Earthsong does well here! That RU Rose Bush only has 1 bloom right now but everyone that see's it has very positive comments on the color etc... It kind of glows... Found two of those huge caterpillars on my sisters rose just alittle bit ago... So far I found 5 of those munching buggers... I watched one eat and it ate half of a small leaf in about 9-10 minutes... :-O I looked at our roses this morning and only found a few aphids so they may of left for whatever reason... I watched aphid videos on youtube and was shocked at the amount of aphids some people get on there roses... Wow! From what I saw on the videos made me realize we only get very light infestations of aphids here on our roses....lol I fed our small birds around here in the winter months and I noticed a week ago they were landing on our roses eating aphids... Thomas Affleck Rose Bush in the middle... Even though I think the pic above looks better I moved the Marigold pots so they are alittle closer to the rose bush......See MoreBurnt Synthetic Fabrics In Dryer-Itchy Skin
Comments (2)Yes it could be fried fabric. Laundromats make their money by making sure that dryers dry quickly and efficiently. When I had to use public laundromats I usually had three or four loads of laundry that I came home with wet and hung out on drying racks rather than dried in their dryers. I used the dryers for sheets and towels and perhaps heavy jeans only. I always tried to do my laundry on Wednesday or Thursday nights so that I could have all the drying racks down by the weekend.......See MoreItchy itchy dog
Comments (17)My Lily ( Chi/Yorkie) gets very itchy on her back in the center and down towards her tail..she has it from spring to early fall. Vet says enviornmental allergies and gives her a allergy shot, ( can't remember what it is called) in the summer, it lasts thru the worst of it. Without it she will scratch her back by rolling on it until it becomes infected. I don't treat her for fleas but keep her hair short and search her daily. She suffers from IBS and can't tolorate any flea meds. Never find fleas, bites, or droppings. She also licks her paws ALL the time, drives me insane. Everytime I see her licking paws I give her one of her toys and she licks it instead. every evening for the past 3 weeks I have washed her paws in tepid water with a bit of pulverised ostmeal, rinse and pat dry. I am noticing she's not licking nearly as much. Our furry babies can be a real handful at times....See More- 11 years ago
