I'm frustrated... trying to find baby doll hair... the little wispy kinds to put on a baby... and even the types you can brush. Where do you get your doll hair from?

I don't do dolls anymore, but I needed something like that I would google for it. A few years back there were dolls stores every where that carried things like that but when the collecting fad stopped the stores closed. I found this list that might help you. The Premiere new born baby doll kits might help.

I do dollhouse dolls, and use a fine hair called viscose. It's available from minikitz.com http://www.minikitz.com/ZenStore/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=165_168

There are (currently) three items on the page; I think you want either the second (shiny viscose) or third (matte viscose). Although she's talking about mini dolls in her description, I think one hank would be enough to wig several mini dolls, or to wispily wig a much larger doll. If you're worried about having enough, order extra.

I don't get anything for referring you to minikitz, but have purchased from Debbie for more than 15 years and have always gotten excellent and friendly service. She's also got lots more fun stuff on her site.

If you care to read I personally LOVE DOLLS because I am one! HA HA HA HA HA! You humans think Toys stay still all day? YEAH RIGHT! I might be breaking the toy laws here but head bear can't stop me! I have already posted if you are reading this! My owner messed up my hair billions of times I always just steal conditioner from my master's master's shower and rinse with warm water and then use the curling Iron from my master's master's dresser. she always comes home and sees me all new again then asks her master 'Did you do this?' then her master says to my Master 'yes honey I did' taking my credit! GRR! oh well. I don't blame my master though she got me out of that dreaded box some one put me in besides shes 5 I hear around the neighborhood that humans don't expect much from 5 year olds. But any ways Is the doll you humans speak of named Anna? I think I know her and she has the same sad problem and story of how she got it... oh no! got to go head bear and Lucy are both looking for me if they see my with my master's master's Laptop I will be sent to the horrid attic! Wendy Tobias is a member of the American Girl Doll group and she sells all kinds of wigs...you could go to yahoo groups and sign up at the AGBuddies to see a list of her wigs or email her at clsact@whidbey.net ...she will also give you instructions on how to measure your doll for a wig....I have also seen lots of wigs on ebay..I have never bought aything from her so I can't vouch for quality, availability, etc etc....

I've mostly used yarn for hair on my dolls. I take some yarn, unraveling it if I want curly hair, and cut it into even lengths. When I think I have enough, I tie a bunch of yarn lengths together with a piece of the same yarn in the middle. I then hold it to the doll's head with pins while I form the hair-do (braids, up-do, whatever). When IÂm happy with the hair, I lift the wig and put glue on the head and then gently press down the wig. Yarn can also be sewn to a piece of ribbon (same colour as the doll) and the ribbon sewn to the dollÂs head and the hair styled. Making hair out of yarn is not hard. You can use whole strands of fine yarn for straight hair, or you can unwind thicker yarn for curly hair. The yarn hair can be stitched or glued onto a ribbon or gauze and then glued to the head, or it can be stitched straight onto the head if it's made from soft material. The simplest way is to make a thick hank of yarn and tie it together in the middle with a thread of the same yarn. Fasten this to the doll's head, gather together and make a bun or a braid at the back, pulling the strands together to cover the top of the head. Don't know if this will help but I am not above buying a wig. [second hand] I clean it well and cut it apart for whatever use I need it for. Or what about a beauty supply store if you have one around you? They sell hanks of hair, maybe that would be an option! Good luck!!--Rosie

Also natural russian hair is very soft and well-combed.

I know this question was from a few years ago but I just came across it. There is a craft supply website that still carries some doll making supplies and has some hair that might work for you. Doll Hair at BJ's Craft Supplies
