Wow! That would be fun. There aren't any in my neck of the woods, since I literally live in the woods (pun intended), nor in the neighboring city and towns that I could find advertized. Maybe I need to start one! I would love to have a taste of someone else's soup because even with the same recipe they taste differently.
What kind of soup are you making? Do you include the recipe with the 6 qts?

I have never been to a soup swap but that sounds like fun. At our church, the first Sunday of the month, the youth group holds what they call Soup Sunday. Various people volunteer to bring soups, tortillas and desserts and any one who stays to eat lunch can donate to the youth group as they see fit. It is nice to have the low key lunch once a month with everybody but I admit that I am not as fond of it in the summer when I am less inclined to enjoy soup.

This is the soup I'm making.

Tortellini Soup

3T olive Oil
1 Clove garlic, minced
3 stalks, celery, chopped
3 carrots, peeled and chopped
1 onion diced
10 oz box frozen spinach (unthawed)
2 cans cream of chicken soup
2 cans water
32 oz chicken broth
Family size package of cheese or chicken tortellini, half cooked
1) Put olive oil in the bottom of a large soup/stock pan
2) Saute' garlic, celery, carrots and onions until tender
3) Add frozen spinach. Break up blocks of spinach as you cook
4) Continue to saute' until spinach thaws, then heats up
5) Add cream of chicken soup and water
6) Add chicken broth and then add tortellini
7) Heat and Serve
Note: It's better to eat it a few hours after it's made so the broth soaks up into the noodles. Better yet, make it the night before.
I found it a little bland so when I doubled this recipe I added some salt and pepper and 1 envelope of onion soup mix. Doubling this recipe made 7 qts.

We ask everyone to bring a copy of their recipe to share. First we have everyone talk about their soup. Was it a family recipe, tips about making it, spiciness, etc. Then we take turns picking soups. We will serve light refreshments. I have done it at my house were we actually tasted all the soups but that was hard logistically. Last year I just made a separate pot of my soup to serve to everyone. At the church we are not doing tastings.

Debra, your soup sounds good and the soup swap sounds like something I'd like a lot, but like Nancedar, I've never heard of anyone having one around here. We occasionally have cookie swaps, but those seem to be dying off too. (sigh)

In my circle, no one had ever heard of it either. I have forgotten how I originally did. It started on the west coast. Anyway I just did it and my guests loved it! So if you don't know of one, do your own! Here is a link to get you inspired.

The soup swap was this morning.

Three people who signed up didn't come but one person brought 2 different kinds so it worked out.

Weight Loss Magic Soup

2cans chicken broth
3 cups v8 juice
2 cans italian diced tomatores
1 small onion
2 cloves minced garlic
1 package sliced mushrooms
3 carrots, peeled, sliced
1 zucchini, diced
1 yellow squash, diced
2 cups fresh or frozen green beans
1 can kidney beans, drained, rinsed
3-4 cups shredded cabbage
1 tsp italian seasoning
salt and pepper to taste

In a large frying pan sprayed with cooking spray, saute garlic onions, carrots, mushrooms, cabbage for about 5 min. In large crock pot combine all the veg. with the remaining ingredients, cook on high for 2-3 hours or until veg. care cooked. Makes about 5 qts.

There was also a chicken chili, a reg or traditional chili, and a potato & kale soup but those forgot their recipes.

We hope to do it again at the church maybe with some soup tastings. I'm organizing a soup swap at work in a few weeks and may do one at my house too.
