How picky should I be about SS fridge finish?
Comments (4)We got a $700 deduction on our LG stainless refrig. It has a very small dimple on the bottom freezer but you have to look really hard to see it. We needed to store our refrig for a few months in the coldest of winter out on a porch. It was wrapped with plastic and had some stain lines when we unwrapped. The Weimans stainless polish never took them away so we got bar keepers friend and applied only once. It looks tremendous now and have only been using the Weimans now. We also have an impression where we pulled off a very large label and will have to use the barkeepers friend there also. Since it is near eye level, I'm kind of hesitant but I can't stand looking at the shape of the label sort of etched into the refrig....See MoreHow should I finish my porch walls?
Comments (1)Yo, Your looking at a bit of work to remove the stucco with no guarantee of what you will find underneath it. Have you considered putting a wall over the stucco? May be quicker, cleaner and a lot less work....See MoreHow long should I budget....start to finish?
Comments (6)We're doing a full renovation on a house about the same size, with the same scope as you minus the boiler/chimney stuff (have furnace and central air). We're gutting kitchen and bath, refinishing hardwood floors, and replacing all plumbing and electrical. We're not spending anywhere near 200K!! Our budget is $10K and we're DIY-ing it on evenings and weekends (though it's just me here evenings, and we're only here about half the weekends). We expect to be move-in ready with all but the kitchen done about 4 months after purchase (mid July). Kitchen will probably be a couple months more, because I'm building/repurposing the cabinets myself. If we were buying the cabinets, we could get the thing done over a long holiday weekend. If you have pros going to town, it should be much faster than our chipping away at it. Heck, you're not moving walls and you've only got 5 rooms! If you've got full-time, dedicated contractors working, you can redo a bath in a week, a kitchen in a week, the hardwood floors in a few days (unless like me you're steaming layers of adhesive off them). If you add the plumbing and electrical work, double the time for each room. Don't know about the boiler/radiator stuff. I would probably space the stuff out, doing one major project at a time so that your already small house still has some refuge space somewhere....See MoreHow should I finish the wall behind my farmhouse style bathroom vanity
Comments (10)Sorry took so long to update....These are some photos of the bathroom, although it was still not completely finished at the time these were taken. The door and shelves have been stained a Carbon gray gel stain that almost perfectly matches the vanity. I used 8" white shiplap through out. The wall lights purchased through Lowe's online. The mirror purchased at Pier 1. The shower tile feature is carrera marble patterned, and a sea grey tile purchased at 'The Tile Shop' in Urbandale, Iowa. The laminate wood floors are from Home Depot in Mushroom? or the next grayer color. The vanity is 60" dark grey with carrera marble top, sink, and faucet included. I changed the knobs. I think I ordered from Houzz but can't remember. It's also on Wayfair. It all looks better in person than in the photos. I don't love that the toilet is right in the middle as you open the door but I didn't want the hassle of changing the layout/footprint of the bathroom. Overall I am happy with my choices. The mirror is a little fancy to me but my husband loved it and the design echos the patterned shower tile so I went with it....See Moremountdgal
