I don't know if it's changed but I can update definitions and program in settings. It says it updated this morning.

Thanks Emma. I didn't know about going into settings but I just did and it said it updated about 2 minutes ago. I will keep checking there.

That same thing is happening to me too since I updated to 2015?
It does not have the voice telling me when it updates each day.
I also went to settings to check for updating.

I think mine has the voice, but I disabled it.

Thanks Urlee. I was going to come back this morning and ask if anyone still had the voice and box that popped up in the corner telling us we had an update. I checked this morning in Settings and it had updated right after I turned on the computer. I feel better about it now.

I don't know why I disabled mine, maybe because there are other vocal announcements. I liked hearing the update thing it assured me it was doing it's job.

Avast updates contain virus definition upgrades and sometimes user interface changes for additional functions. if yours stopped updatating I highly suggest you do a manual update. You can download the newest avast from their website and install. It should promt some sort of updating the older version to a new one.

I'm running the (presumably) latest Version 2015.10.0.2208 (Release date 11/07/2014 9:33:43 AM).

Control of the voice announcement function is under Settings / General.

UNcheck "Silent/Gaming Mode"

Also, expand the Sounds section.
Another option is there for "Enable Avast Sounds"
Also under the Voiceover subsection, "Use voiceover sounds (when available)"

Personally, I don't care for the voice alerts and sounds so have them disabled.

Dadoes, I must be running the latest version as the date was Nov. 2014. I have Silent/Gaming Mode UNchecked. I also have Enable Avast Sounds checked. I still don't have sound or the box that comes up. Strange.

Greg, it is updating because when I check it has updated after I turn on the computer. I just don't have the box and sound come up like I have had for years. I have the latest version.

I guess I will just live with no sound and go into Avast every day to make sure it is updating.

If it's done the daily update twice on its own, there's no need to check it every day or to even give it another thought.

Why have it set to automatic update if you go into the program every day? That's what the auto feature is used to avoid.

Snidely, I had it set to automatically update for years and it did it like it was supposed to do. Now that has stopped and that's why I checked it yesterday and today to see if it had updated. I didn't know that I could check it until someone here told me. I don't plan on checking it every day but just a few times until I am comfortable with it not doing what it has for years.

Mine is identical to what yours is and is doing.
The only thing I noticed in Settings is this:

Could that be why no sound? Mine seems to be updating even though not checked there. Is yours that way too?

Urlee, when I checked last night my Automatic update was checked.
