Lost Avast update link!

I have skimmed thru the postings for the month of Jan., and know that there was a link posted here for the updated avast virus protection, and want to find it to install on my puter.

can someone point me either to the link, or send me a new one?

Must appreciated, need to get er done and out of my thoughts again, or I will forget once more.

You all are great, and I do appreciate your taking time with all of us in the forum for help and concerns as well. Your fast think aheads are great to read, and make me wish I knew what you were talking about sometimes!!!!!!!!!!

Avast Free Antivirus 5.0.377

that should take you right to it when you hit the download now at the top of page, it will take you to another page and in the center a pop up box will come up with the file to save.

Avast should up-date ok on it's own. But here is a link for up-date. The first link is for Avast Version # 5 That's the new version of avast with the girls voice that says' your Avast has been up-dated and it has an orange ball now down by the clock instead of blue.

The second link is for Avast 4.0 up-dates

You should also be able to up-date avast through the Interface somehow also.

Bbbluz, I searched and found out that it is part of MWB.:-) His Avast interface is different than in Zep's link. But I was able to find the virus chest and there were no files listed..Both programs were updated this morning.... Thanks, Jean

'The latest reviews on the updated version of Avast are not good! Is there a way she can download the older version? Or should she just go with a different antivirus?' I read the complete review, and I fail to see just what you mean. In fact, the new UI is mentioned as being easier to use than the old, and I have to agree with that. The final sentence goes on to say that Avast is the best free AV program available. Now, I do use Microsoft Security Essentials on my Windows 7 laptop, but I have Avast version 5 on my desktop, and I find both to be top-notch.

on the new AVAST version when that info box pops up to tell you it is time it normally has a link right there on it to simply click to do the re-register. They have made it extremely simple to do. You do NOT want to go with the option to upgrade to the pay version be sure you are careful and do not select that option.

Thanks all! We did a lot of investigating of products - our living room looked like a siding showroom with all the samples we had of corners and shakes. DH is in the remodeling business and although he doesn't do siding for a living he knows what he's doing and is ultra picky about product. The one we thought for sure we'd use (Foundry) was not up to his standards when we saw it in person. We went with Cedarway siding but I thought their colors were pathetic and they agreed to do a custom color - so I picked the color I wanted from Alcoa siding and they matched it. Jan thanks for your thoughts on the lattice - Not sure where we're headed with that. As for landscaping - we used to have the most beautiful kerria japonica under the bay and in front of the railing but lost them all last summer to some twig blight :-( You can see the remnants I'm trying to nurse along under the bay but think I'm beat. I need to figure out replacements but have been busy elsewhere in the garden. If you ever stopped by the Treehouse you'd know that you silly girl! I'm wrangling deer! Its kind of odd that Avast didnt automatically update from the ver4.8 to the new 5.0, or at least give an indication that there was a new version avail. Thnks for the heads-up

has anyone had any problems with version 5 I am seeing reports on some of the forums of some problems, especially slowing down browsing and pc use. I always wait a while when a new version comes out till all the bugs get ironed out anyway, there are several threads on BBR discussing 5. Also saw several reporting a false positive identified on some of the other malware programs and firewalls which were installed on their pc.

I downloaded and installed AVAST 5 as soon as I learned about it. I did uninstall V4.8 before installing 5, however. So far, I haven't had any problems at all, and updates are coming with regularity. The GUI is so much better than the older versions.

one thing to check is that you have it set to send anything it finds to the chest rather than delete it some people have said it was not holding their settings so you may want to make sure your settings are set properly and it is holding them.
The problems were both with clean and over lay methods of install.

Went thru the maintenance settings and didnt notice that setting

since I do not have 5 yet maybe someone with 5 can respond.

I have the user guide in a folder for 4.8 and on page 76 of the guide it gives directions for changing options. I have no idea if it is the same for 5 however. I would think there is a new pdf user guide for 5.

here is one of the treads on the AVAST forum issued today about the new update for version 5 that is supposed to fix some of the problems, but as you can see many are still experiencing problems. I know several people have just gone back to 4.8 for now till they get the bugs worked out. I am still on 4.8 for now.
