AV program AVAST has just issued a program update which has some enhancements as well as a nicer, easier to use GUI. One of the new items is a check on your important programs and the ability to update them through AVAST. You can update them manually by checking a box, OR you can choose to have AVAST update them automatically. This should help with the problems such as Java and some of the Adobe apps that have needed frequent updating for security reasons. If you, like me, have had trouble with Secunia, this is a nice addition to AVAST. I just did the update last evening and it found that my FF was in need of update as well as Irfanview. I updated those and then clicked to have it update these things automatically. Another new item is the ability to scan your e-mail even if you already have SSL and other security set up in your e-mail client. Previously, if you wanted AVAST to scan e-mail, you had to disable SSL in your e-mail client. A very nice update to a great AV program.
