Could someone take a look at this laptop?

QVC is selling Dells tonight. The price for a 17" seems good. I looked around online and the hard drive and memory seem good. It includes lifetime tech support.

I couldn't find anything near this price with those specs. I could care less about the software except Adobe Photoshop which might be worth while. I do not want a subscription for Office.

My opinion - QVC is a ripoff operation with high prices. You can be sure anything they sell can be found for a better price elsewhere.

Have you looked on the Dell site? Amazon? Costco? Newegg?

My friend has a dell desktop and 2 dell laptops she bought from QVC and never had any issues at all. Compare the prices with the dell site. For her she made out good price wise and has been very happy. I have ordered many things from QVC over the years problem free and they have good customer service if you do have a problem. Mary

Hi Laura - I am reaching as far as I can! I am Kathy from south central PA. I am very close to the Maryland border and not far from VA and West Virginia. Now, my husband and I took a look at it and he said "if it's just installed and not running then it's not a problem". Nice idea, I never thought of that. There is going to be 48" of countertop on each side of the cooktop. So, if I took out 36" for a doorway, that leaves me with only 12" of cooktop counter to the left of the cooktop. I have more than that now and it drives me insane. I thought about a half wall with a ledge for stacking dishes, serving food, etc. But for that to work properly the sink and cooking areas need to swap. Drats. Seems like everywhere I turn, this kitchen, my budget and my stubborn hubby are against me! But, it is what it is, and built back in the day when sinks just HAD to be under a window, period. Is it THAT expensive to move plumbing??

I'm with Mom & Kompy. I see a wonderful & dramatic space--vaulted ceilings, massive wooden beams, great floors. It's a space that can, in not much more than an afternoon & with minimal cost, be transformed into an entirely different look. The biggest 'sealed in stone' item is that tiny amount of checkerboard splash behind the range...and changing that out is a relatively easy DIY project. The 'bones' of the kitchen are white & wood & that's about as neutral as you can get. I love the screen door idea for the pantry--that solves the stuffy pantry syndrome in a very clever way. Another item I noted is that she achieved a Victorian look to the screen door by using a basic, inexpensive door & attaching some gingerbread pieces to it. The only thing I really dislike about the kitchen basics are the bun feet on the white cabinetry. But that's just me & my across the board distaste for bun feet, period. So, I'm going to be optimistic and believe that she used Velcro to hold the feet in place so I won't have to break out my Japanese saw when I invade her house & take over her kitchen! ;)

I have 6 Dells most quite old. Never had any problems with them and they all still work.

I have always bought from the Dell website except one laptop I bought really cheap from Walmart which still works well.

Someone knew I was looking to get a new computer and said QVC was selling tonight. I looked and it seemed like a good deal. Was a Intel I5 processor with 1T hard drive and 5G memory. 17" HD screen.

I spent the day looking on line and couldn't find anything with those specs at that price. Including the Dell website. Plus they charge for tech support.

Anyway, the sale is over and I didn't pull the trigger. I'll keep looking. I'm a bit hesitant about upgrading Win8 to Win10. I'm wondering if the machines sold with Win10 will run better than the upgrades. I might just keep using XP (which has no problems) until the Fall when Win 10 comes on the market.

I wouldn't personally own a Dell and yes QVC over inflates their prices even HSN was always better on prices, but for comparison sake in todays Sun. paper at Office Depot they have and 17.3" HP laptop, 6GB RAM (not 8) but still fast for a laptop and 1T HD for $429.99 (oh and it's a quad core) HP is my preference of PC's and I have 4 online in my home. Do some research online before you buy even Walmart has great deals on PC's.

Thanks. I never had a problem with Dells, so I guess I'm lucky.
I have had problems with an HP laptop, and decided I wouldn't deal with them again. Could have been bad luck, but it does turn you against dealing with a company you had a hard time with.

My experience has been that most businesses use Dell computers so they must be doing something right. I guess its sort of like Chevy or Ford.

I am looking for a desktop. I was tempted to get a laptop which I could hook a monitor to, but it costs more than buying a desktop. I want an I5 or I7. I want memory and hard-drive. I want HDMI and lots of usb ports. I want a good monitor and I want a machine where I can stream video and not worry about it. And, I'd like to keep it under $1,200.00!

I'll keep looking. Doing a lot of research because I would be replacing our main computer. We do have lots of laptops, XP and a Win 7 and Win 8 (never use it). I still have concern about the upgrade option to Win 10. Might be better to wait until the compters come installed with it. Hopefully the bugs will be worked out by then. I'm glad to hear I can use my older version of Office on a Win 8.

So glad our XP's are still going strong and all our security software still updates without any problems.

Yes, please do look online check out Tiger Direct, Walmart etc. etc. because I own 2 new desktops as well with W8.1 and the one I am on now has all you require and, a nice big 21" monitor and no way would I ever pay a grand, I didn't even pay $500 for this one. And HP has been awesome to me, even one of the bigwigs gave me his ext. number if I ever needed to call him, he was so impressed that I have 4HP PC's and like them so much, and that I help other seniors with PC problems.

For those of you holding out for Windows 10, why do you believe that it will be simpler than Windows 8?

No reason to "hold out" Microsoft will be offering a Free upgrade to W10 for anyone using W7 or 8 and you will have one year to get it Free, it will have a new browser called Spartan, since so many complain about IE it is to be fast and efficient? and will have Cortana in it which will speak to us and we can ask it questions, "purty kewl" also another feature is being able to group tabs, which is nice for multi taskers.

I did not know that it would be available to win 7 users. I have never had issues with IE and it's all I like to use so something tells me it's going to turn the other way around if I use Spartan. That would be just the way my luck goes, he he. I will probably not take advantage of it and just stick with 7 unless my computers die and I have to get new ones. Mary

And yes it is to be made available for W7 & 8 however it is a technical preview and may well have bugs to work out so it's best to think before jumping into the Free preview upgrade, also I just read you can not go back to 7 or 8.1 unless you do a complete recovery.

Thanks, I have looked around. Anything under $1,000.00 didn't have what I want.

I agree that Win 10 upgrade might not be something I want. Might want to wait for MS to work out the bugs.
