Facebook problem

I installed Adblocker Plus a few days ago. Now I can't get on Facebook? Would that be caused by adding that? I can't find it to delete it.

If using Windows try Control Panel then Network and Internet then Internet Options and then Manage browser add-ons to disable adblock.

To answer your question, no, that is not stopping you from getting on Facebook.

Ok, so now you have a whole army of people trying to help out. ;-) It's ok if you're not that swift on computers - there's a first time for everything, and no one can be an expert in everything. acraftylady had the right idea - to type in "facebook.com" in the browser bar - known as the location bar - up at the top. Bookmarks can sometimes get out of date and have the wrong computer address. But you tried that and it made no difference. I'm going to go over some things then give you my next suggestion. Firmware is the software built in to a chip on the router. It's the instructions that make the router do its thing. It's doubtful that issue would interfere with one website and one alone. If you can reach Facebook on your iPad - using the same router - then the router is not the problem. You are using the same router, right ? You could try rebooting the router though - just unplug it, wait 15 secs, and plug it back in. Cleaning out temp files : The download that zep516 recommended will do this, but I doubt that will solve the problem. It's harmless to try it though. What you have is prob. a networking related problem. Try this : Instead of typing in facebook.com in the browser's location bar, type in or copy & paste in this set of four numbers - with the periods (dots) in between : 173.252.120.6 (and no http or www - just the numbers with the dots in between) then hit Enter. That is the actual computer address of facebook. 1. Does that work ? The other questions : 2. What browser are you using ? 3. Can you access other websites, just not Facebook ? 3. OK, changed my password, could get in OK; logged out and now I can't get back in as my account has been disabled! I have emailed Facebook, but I'm tempted to just leave it. I can't even set a new password now. According to their site, they are having a lot of trouble with this phishing, and are "trying to solve the problem". At least, I got a lot of phone calls and emails from concerned people. Thanks, Lynda!

I can 'whitelist' domains on Adblocker by clicking on the red ABP icon in the upper right of my Chrome browser toolbar. That opens a drop down menu w/ 'options' @ the bottom - clicking that opens a tab where I can select 'whitelist' & there I have the option to enter any domain I don't want blocked. Not sure what this looks like on Windows...?

(Had to do this recently so I could pay a bill online - site wouldn't work until I thought of doing that.)

I found out it was a problem with my server. I got back on. After the rep yanked me around. He had me change my privacy and security settings. I fell for it. I wish I was more computer savvy. I got it back to normal except now when I go to Facebook and Yahoo mail I have to log in every time. And when I want to comment on GW I have to log in also. How can I fix that? Also I don't get emails from GW any more that someone posted on my post. That's been going on for weeks now. Thanks for your help!

DNS server sending you to the wrong ip. heh

Save cookies is one way to save some logins/passwords, but usually browsers mostly has a setting for that.

Maybe look at FireFox...

What browser are you using . . . IE, Firefox, Chrome, Opera ??

Those problems are easy to fix, but depending on the browser, they all have different methods for solving them.
So we'd need to know that.

FWIW, I don't stay logged in to Facebook & emails - or anything else containing personal info w/ a log-in. IOW, I always sign in & out. I understand keeping them 'open' can be a security risk

I have Firefox. I've done everything everyone recommended and it still won't save the passwords. Please help me! It hurts my arthritic wrist to have to type passwords in all of the time.
