Schluter trim or bullnose that is slightly off color?
Comments (7)Yes, it is! The niches in all three of our bathrooms are lined with marble from the same supplier (K&K Marble on Long Island). We used it for the niche shelves, and for the smaller trim pieces in the MB. They cut and polished the pieces for the niches, but I don't remember if they, or our tile guys cut the pieces for the trim (I am thinking our tile guys did that on-site, during the installation). I know we needed a specific marble tile thickness/size, when did our guest bathroom niche (the first bathroom we did), and I remember making a gazillion frantic phone calls to tile places before I left for work on a Friday morning. I kept striking out until our tile guy mentioned K&K--whew! DH drove out to LI to pick up the tile we needed very early the next morning in order to beat a major snowstorm that was predicted!...See MorePencil, schluter or bullnose finish for marble shower?
Comments (22)What is on the display at Floor and Decor may not even look like what is for sale now. What's available at the store could have a ton of variation. The displays are not updated as the stone comes in from different areas. You have to look at what is actually there for purchase. I think I bought the same marble you are looking at in 12x12 for a hall bath. It was super cheap. Over half was not usable because there were orange spots. Rust deposits. I didn't see it anywhere I looked in the store....See MoreQuarter round or bullnose for shower tile edge?
Comments (5)I can see the value in both of your points. Vanity is traditional but glass shower doors will by necessity have the roller type header, which may look more contemporary. One of the problems with the bullnose is the linear pattern runs the length of the 4x12 tile, causing the lines to run vertically on the edging when installed against the horizontal 12x24 tile. Here's the tile installed in someone else's bath. Is the pattern subtle enough that vertical lines on the edge won't matter? I think it looks even less linear in a wall position judging by the little 6" sample I have. It's a through-body tile and the tile setter said he could bullnose the edges but I have no idea what that might look like. Anyone have experience with that?...See MoreHow is this tile backsplash finished? No bullnose or Schluter trim.
Comments (4)We did this. Glazed edges. Possible with custom tiles. You can ask for one glazed side, two sides, four sides if you want to ..but slight price difference with each glazed edge added)) I do have pics of the kitchen and maybe even closeup of tiles, but not of edges...I don't thik so. Maybe I'll check later Good that you ask ahead of a time-we were totally unprepared..)) "So how you're going to finish the backsplash?" and we were, like, "huh?" ran and ordered those glazed edge tiles.....See MoreJoseph Corlett, LLC
