Similar problem here. I have lots of supplemental lighting & it helps some but I feel it is not enough. Yet, looking at Howard's photos, it is possible...

Rina, thanks for the warm fuzzy. Laura, for us in the northern climates, I now believe one must have supplemental lighting for certain plants as Rina has mentioned. Eches are one of them.

This plant had a lot more flowers in December, but this one was still blooming on Saturday. A lot of the aloes are blooming here right now, especially the ones across the street from me in front of the Centinela Adobe, as well as some in my front and back yards. I also have several tillandsia and bromeliads blooming in the back yard, but I guess they are not succulents. For additional color, I have four or five different chili plants with ripe red or orange chilies.

Thanks Howard! I'm SOOO happy I can put a name with that one! (I'm THRILLED it's blooming!) at least I'm doing something right! Lol hope everyone had a great holiday!

I do not know the name of it, but lzrddr probably does! It might be saponaria X variegata.

Thanks for that ID, Lzrddr - I will make a tag for that plant. The previous one faded beyond legibility.

Here are some from my front yard. The orange flower in front of the cactus is not a succulent - it is an epidendrum orchid that grows all over the place and accidentally got planted in the front.

Another Jatropha podagrica in process of flowering. Never seen a more reliable all year long flowering succulent.

I'm new to this Forum and don't have much in the way of Cacti or succulents, but do grow a few. Mostly Echeverias and Sedums outdoors.
Friends know I grow plants so they give them to me to grow or save...with no name, usually. My sunroom is packed with indoor plants and most of them are nameless to me. I have one book on succulents and cacti and that has helped. It looks as if this Forum will help also.

rina, I'm surprised you remember me. Your memory is very good. I'm an old man and mine is short.

How do you manage to get your Stapelia to bloom over such a long time? Mine only blooms sporadically and I haven't made the connection as to what causes it to bloom. Maybe water after drought?

I remember photos of your garden - the mossy rocks, ponds, crocagator... I am an old woman but remember what impresses me...

I don't do anything with that huernia zebrina except 'forget it', lol. I received cutting in 2012 from a member here on GW.

First time it bloomed in June 2014 and didn't stop since; well except for short time between old flower falling off and new bud opening - there is always a bud growing next to a bloom - like in the large photo.
By Nov. 2014 it had 9 blooms and more since - I think I lost count - this one is I believe #12.
It is inside, by large but North window (outside in summer), with supplemental lighting. Watered about 1x/10 days or so.

Great photos, Hoovb! I especially like the hummingbird. I should get a Joe Hoak - my hummers have been going to the Tillandsia that I have blooming, but they put out very little nectar, although some of the bromeliads I have are in full bloom and give more nectar, but they are not succulents, and so I am only posting this one photo, of a plant that is in a hanging basket in my apple tree.

Bulbine 'Hallmark'

Rina, that is indeed Baby Toes. It is growing out of the side of the basket, as it got crowded out by some other succulents that grow faster. I have more Baby Toes in another planter, however.

Here is the same basket from January 2013. The succulent in the far right is now the dominant plant. I have the plant with the purple flowers in the front yard now.

Here are the unassuming blooms of my Haworthia attenuata flanked by more flamboyant cultivars of Kalanchoe blossfeldiana -- hello from the tropics!

( I wouldn't mind if you told me what cultivars they are. I have two more, a white one and a double-petalled pink one, maybe Calandiva pink)

My K. blossfeldiana seems to have a mind of its own when it comes to blooming. I took a lot of cuttings from these 2 plants, they've grown well, but none bloomed after 2 years. These poor things were shoved into the corner of the lanai, ignored, and then put on a show to remind me they were still alive!

Those are really pretty Crenda. Your plants look much more mature than mine though (since yours has long woody stems). Why do other people make it look so much easier?? Hehe. Would it interrupt the blooming process if i repotted them (or any succulent for that matter)?

My Aloe dorotheae is coming along nicely! First time this one has bloomed for me.

I have to share with all of you... I ignored my jade for about two weeks but when I checked on it, it was blooming. I didn't even know they bloomed! This one was given to me to love and care for so now I'm going to have to learn more about it.

And here's a picture of one of my aloes that's just starting to bloom. Does anyone have an idea what type he isn't? He's very different from my other aloes.

EH- that is very nice bloom on your sans. I didn't know they bloom until about 1.5 ago when someone posted photo here.

Crenda- another of your beautiful plants. How great it is to be able to have them outside year-round.

dm- your jade has nice red coloring on the leaves, and the flowers are bonus. Just like your aloe (hope it will get ID-ed), your plants have a great GH to winter over. What is the plant left of it? Do you have other succulents?

David- tell us...how they taste...

Rina, thanks! I'm not sure what the one to the left is. I'll check Monday because the greenhouse I use is at work. I have quite a few succulents, most of which were inherited with the green house so I'm not sure of the names. I'll take a few picture on Monday and post them.
