Jeeves advice....

I want to read some of Wodehouse's Jeeves but I'd like to read them in the order that they were written and can't get a clear picture. It seems like the books available are a jumble of stories, compilations, books of 8, books of twelve, all kinds of concoctions. What should I look for first to get started? And how hard are they to find?

I don't know how readily available the books are but I just ck'd at Fantastic Fiction-my favorite resource for all books and they list all his books in order written and also by series.

Well, I just checked Amazon.com and I think pretty much all of the Jeeves books are available through them, either used or new.

I think there was a recent (as in the last 5 years) republication of most if not all of the Jeeves novels. If you check out the Fantastic Fiction link given above by Pat, you'll notice that most of the book covers they show are recent reprints. By the way, the link is missing the "www" at the front and it won't work. It might be best to manually enter the address : www.fantasticfiction.co.uk

@k Sissy, I dry all my shower walls, caulking at the floor junction, and corners at the floor. Info this every time. I have not had to "clean" my shower in 3 years. I have only cleaned the cast iron floor as needed, because I don't wipe that down daily. Love the microfiber towel. Mines very thick and is 20x40". It is so absorbent it could dry 2 showers before I'd have to wring it out. It's hard/slow for me to hold the squeegee just right to make the perfect swipe on walls and glass. The towel is a breeze. I've asked people if they had to wipe down a nice car, would they squeegee it? No, they'd use a towel. No connection to this company. I've read that Korean microfiber is the best. I'm figuring that Dagleish could help Hamlet solve the mystery and bring Uncle to a legal justice, then Ophelia wouldn't go mad, Hamlet wouldn't go all whiny and navel-gazing, he and O would get married and rule a peaceful, prosperous Denmark. I think Dagleish is dreamy, but I am honestly too tired for a dalliance. So he can just retire with honors after all is neat and tidy. I'd also like to smack some sense into Romeo and Juliet. Talk about leaping before you look! How about inviting R&J and Dr. Phil. Oh-he's sort of real. Never mind. About the alarm clock-I do love it, especially the hypnotic "go to sleep" countdown...but in the interests of full disclosure I should tell you that the case is plastic.

My sister and I both have an omnipanel by Runtal. They are extremely well made and the omnipanel has a lot of flat area, which warms the towels. Runtal has a website which overviews their many styles and sizes, most of which are available as plug in, hard wired, or hydronic. Hers is quite a few years old, ours we just installed about a month ago. I like to put my clean clothes on it along with the towel to warm up! Our Runtal is 24" wide and around 36" tall and costs about 7 cents an hour to run. We got the programmable timer, so we can set it to run at specific times each day (but have not yet set that up). So far we just turn it on and off when needed. It would probably have been better to get a timer (but not sure if there is one suitable for that application). I first contacted Runtal about purchasing, they were great (but online was less expensive, not by a lot, but enough). I then had to contact them two other times (one for replacement faceplate on the programmable switch, and it arrived the next day) -- their customer service is great. Consider a little larger than you think you might need, it's great to have warm stuff! you need blocking in the wall or to hit studs to install these, they are relatively heavy. But that holds the heat. We only had one location in a small bathroom to install this, not sure but there probably are safety recommendations for where to install. I think they have their guidelines in PDF format on the website.

As far as reading them in order is concerned, I don't personally think there is anything much to be gained by it. It's not like there's any serious character development...! I'm sure P G Wodehouse didn't write them with the intention that they should be read in any particular order.

well, there are a couple romances that have their ups and downs through a few of the stories-Goosey, and Bertie and the Aunts' matchmaking-so that suspense (will he pop the question? Will she say yes?) would be ruined....hehehe.
In all seriousness -as serious as you can be about Jeeves and Wooster-I agree with Martin-there is no necessary order. Just read and giggle.
