Wonder what zone she is planting in. I think lettuce and tomatoes are OK here in winter, but summer it's just too hot. I have some seeds to try. We have been on our new property about 8 months now, and are trying to repair the damage years of neglect has done to existing fruit trees, plus we are planting a lot more trees and edibles. We just got started composting. Hubby built a nice box for that purpose. The chipper/shredder will be delivered today! I wish every tree here was edible, but some are just pretty. Our pines are not the kind with edible pine nuts, but I love them. Crepe Myrtles are so pretty, and so are the Jacaranda. They are just taking up room where we could plant fruit and nut trees. Thanks, oldned. I'll have to get a close look at the seeds. Well, if it's the gray nickerbean that would explain why I see so many more hairstreaks around here this year. I still think it's obnoxious, and it's never been around here before in the 14 years I've lived here. There are many plants, like castor bean, virginia creeper, and poison ivy, that have appeared in the preserve area since they started digging and sodding, Glad to know that this one is a native, at least.

No need to apologize for the questions. It's a big decision. Wouldn't it be great if you could exchange the cabinets if they "didn't fit"?? I'm sorry I'm not sure what lucretzia paid? I'm pretty sure it was in the 20s. I'm pretty sure they can do almost anything as far as the door style. I originally was going to have a stained island with a glaze and the doors had a raised panel. Not sure if that's what you're looking for, but it was beautiful. The only reason I went with a painted island was because our kitchen is on the north side of the house and I was afraid it might be too dark. I do have 3 counter height windows across the back wall and a french slider, but we really don't get sunlight until around 2pm. Which I guess really isn't that big of deal since...no one is home at that time during the week. ;) My DH says I overthink everything. It's a GW curse!!! I'm sure he does a glaze on painted cabinets, but I don't recall seeing it. I knew I wanted dove white, so I didn't really look at much else. I will be going with some type of laminate top. I'm actually one of those people who hasn't seen a granite I like or maybe I haven't seen enough granite. I really don't like the coldness of it when I sit at my friend's island. I love how it looks in other people's houses. Everytime I looked at granite I felt like it was taking away from the beauty of my cabinets (I brought a sample with me). I'm thinking of doing basalt slate formica on the perimeter. I'm going to call Jacob tomorrow and see if he can cut the counters thinner, so they look closer to a soapstone, which I love. The island is a toss between pionite in bianco marble or basalt slate. I love katieob's kitchen and that's as close as I'm going to get to her countertops.
