Natural disasters

On another thread, someone has mentioned that she reads books about natural disasters, among many other subjects. That is a topic that has interested me too--not sure why. One of the best I've read is "The Last Days of St. Pierre" about the horrific volcanic eruption on Martinique in 1904. It was written by Ernest Zebrowski and is really good in evoking the place, the people, and the science. Anyone have any other recommendations?
