Afterglow of reading a really good book

The intensity of a deeply satisfying reading experience is hard to follow. I just read Connie Willis's two volume story of time traveling historians in WWII London, part one called Black Out and part two called All Clear. I waited for the second one to be released and read the whole 1200 or so pages over a few days. I'd waited years for this novel to appear and was not disappointed. Willis remains my favorite author.

So what to read next? My husband Tom handed me Robert Parker's final Spenser novel Painted Ladies. It was perfect. A fast paced visit from an old friend, I read it over the course of 24 hours and thoroughly enjoyed it.

Now I'm ready to move on to my book club selection for this month. Black Out/All Clear still resonates in my mind, but not so strongly that I cannot turn my attention to another book.
