Concrete wire is very thick and difficult to work with. 14 G. fencing 5' tall (2X4" spacing) is available at Home Depot for about $40 a 50' roll and should last about 10 years before the welds start to give. Higher quality galvanization used to be standard when the fencing came from Georgia instead of China and you could get about 20 years. This higher quality fencing may still be available from fence supply stores. Being able to mow under a tree is not an issue for me. I want easy access to my trees for my hands. I have dealt with concrete wire and plastic netting at various sites and I much prefer my method because entry is so much easier. But then, the 5' or so diameter rings inside the fence are usually mulched and a mower is not used. Weeds are pulled by hand. If and when I stop mulching, the tree is already above the browse line and the fence is removed and replaced with a narrow buck guard to protect the trunk from rubs. Sorry, no time for photos this week. I have to get my wife's help to accomplish that. I'm a techidiot. Drive one stake into the ground a couple feet from the tree, weave the end of fencing with flush cuts through the stake (if it's smooth wood) wrap the fencing around the tree and close the tube you've made with 2 or 3 pieces of the fences own wire. Total time- about 10 minutes including measuring and cutting the fence piece.

At long last I got the chance to go over to the Garden Center that all my neighbors have been talking about. IÂm even more keyed up to landscape my new yard now that IÂve been there. The place is much bigger than it looks like in the pictures on their website. My neighbor (Kim) went with me. She was giving me a mini tour of what will be in what areas. Along came a very friendly employee, we chatted and she thoughtfully offered me a tour and ride in a golf-cart like machine. She was able to drive me around the enormous front and back yard. They are starting to get a lot of trees and shrubs in already and I was very thoroughly impressed by all that I saw. She answered a lot of my questions and made suggestions while we chatted and drove along. IÂve already looked up the things that she suggested and know what IÂll be putting in some areas, IÂm going to bring pictures of my yard next time I go there, I can use all the advise I can get. Inside the garden center gift shop Â Holy WOW! It took my breath away when I stepped inside the door! It is in this enormous very old barn that has two floors and so many country-style, vintage and one of-a-kind itemÂs. I donÂt even know how long we were in there, we just completely lost track of time during all the ooooing and aaaugghhhhing (and buying). LOL No more box store stuff for my new house. Yikes! Assuming the first two fridges were also GE Profile?- is there anyway you can get a different model? Though it sounds like you may have the odds in your favour- if you have gone through three lemons already! I haven't added the ice maker to my fairly basic fridge, cuz I have an 'irrational' fear of the same thing happening. My fridge backs onto the wall separating kitchen from living room, so I can picture water seeping into hardwood everywhere. Definitely stay on top of GE until you get satisfaction. I have been dealing with Panasonic about an OTR MW that I bought last December- and I am still waiting for the mounting brackets which are on back order- I have a file on which I started writing dates- NAMES- work order #'s and short notes of conversations (long story- missing brackets just the latest...) I am also of the school- catch more flies with honey than vinegar- but remain firm. Good luck!

Gardengal, thanks for comforting me with news that it doesn't take over the garden! I have a David Austin Rose with small but profuse white flowers and it's just occurred to me that it might be a good companion. I get what you mean about the Agastache; it worked well in adjacent containers at least :-). Campanula, I have been growing it in a pot. It was in desperate shape when it arrived, but I was also a little wary of it. Someone gifted me with a small Scrophularia californica that in one season grew into a near giant of a plant. It had very insignificant flowers so I didn't think it was worth the space it took up and when I tried to remove it, I discovered very thuggish roots. They were thick and fleshy and they had scrambled everywhere and were the sort that resprouted vigorously. What is it about the Figwort family that has you wanting to avoid them? mxk3: I hadn't seen it before either, but once having seen it, it's fairly unforgettable as it is quite a stunning plant.
