Elizabeth George--new book

I just saw that Elizabeth George's latest book will be out in October. Title is "What Came Before He Shot Her." I just called the library to reserve it before publication and found there is already quite a waiting list.

I am really looking forward to this as her most recent book before this, "With No One As Witness" was perhaps her best, in my opinion. She seems to be more interested in being a novelist than a mystery writer and I felt is finally achieving success. I couldn't put it down.

Her Inspector Lynley series is the first place, I have to admit, where I became aware of the many complicated issues surrounding UK citizens of Pakistani background. I think she portrays the many sides of this complex and all-too-current situation. I am looking forward to this new book.

Thanks Ginny she is one of my favorite writers and I have read all her books-that last one was a shocker.
I wonder if that title indicates she is writing of the time before the last one....hmmm....I will look for it-I have been waiting to see what she would do-or not-after With No One As Witness.

I got the info from her website and yes, the new one does address the shocking ending of the last book. You know, her website used to have a forum for fans but people were so angry about that plot development that I saw they pulled that feature. At least I assume that's why they pulled it.

natal, I'm glad I can always count on you to keep me in line. You're always on time and consistent when you stop in to tell me what I am and what I do wrong and what I say is wrong. What I can't figure out is your facination with what I say. You've been critiqing things I say on his forum for over a year now. When is it going to stop? You don't like me and that is obvious, OK, I get it and I'm sure others who post here and see your repeated attacks on me get it too. So say what's really on your mind and get off my back. To tell you the truth what you say to me is just annoying, it doesn't mean anything because you are not a regular poster on this forum so I don't respect or value anything you have to say. You only swoop in to give your 2 cents and tell me what I've done wrong on certain days. I have to tell you I'm sick of it. I'm not your child, your friend, your neighbor, so stop getting so familiar with me all the time. You are creeping me out.

I'm so sorry about the passing of your Sister. That damn cancer is a horrific and nondiscrimination disease. The passing of Elizabeth must have brought many memories back to you. It doesn't matter how much time has passed, news like this brings the pain back. We lost our precious Daughter-in-law a year ago in June. Although the pain has eased some, the empty feeling will probably be there until i join her. I send you (((((Hugs))))) and wish you Peace.

Hi Carolyn -- It's good to be remembered. I guess I just got busy. We moved (downsized) in 2011 and yet we still have two storage areas of "stuff" to go through, and, I hope, get rid of. And I waste too much time on Facebook. I still check in here on occasion, though, to see how you all are doing and what you are reading. I'll try to check in more often. Reading books for two book clubs and reading my own choices in between keeps me busy reading. But like all of you, I love it. Sorry to hijack you thread, Paula. Alisande, I loved the Lt. Luis Mendoza series...think I read all 10 or 11 of them. ☺You can find the titles at Good Reads plus a comprehensive list of Dell Shannon's other publications. Then go used book shopping on the web. I've had good luck finding them at Better World of Books, Thrift Books and Central Bookstore. I envy you growing up in a home with such fun parents. ☺

I do have her web site on my favorites and went there after reading your message-so did see the info on the new book.
Then I went to our library web site but they don't have it listed. They used to have a category named "Coming Soon to a Library Near You" but they removed it and a search does not show it among their books-so I put in a request for them to buy it-so we will see. If they don't get it I will definitely buy it.

I called reference on the phone and asked if they had a list for something not yet published and they do. Maybe your library has just not put it online yet. My library is a member of a consortium, as I guess most of them are, and my copy may come from any of those libraries. I just checked and my library alone has four copies on order so I guess, Pat, we are not the only ones waiting for this.

Thanks Ginny! I've placed my hold at the library and I'm only #45 - sometimes by the time I hear about a book there are already hundreds of holds. I'm even more eager than usual to read her next book after what happened in the last one.

I have eagerly been awaiting the latest book. I feel as you do, Ginny. I was quite unaware of the Pakistani population in England before reading her novels.
