Elizabeth George--new book

I just saw that Elizabeth George's latest book will be out in October. Title is "What Came Before He Shot Her." I just called the library to reserve it before publication and found there is already quite a waiting list.

I am really looking forward to this as her most recent book before this, "With No One As Witness" was perhaps her best, in my opinion. She seems to be more interested in being a novelist than a mystery writer and I felt is finally achieving success. I couldn't put it down.

Her Inspector Lynley series is the first place, I have to admit, where I became aware of the many complicated issues surrounding UK citizens of Pakistani background. I think she portrays the many sides of this complex and all-too-current situation. I am looking forward to this new book.

Thanks Ginny she is one of my favorite writers and I have read all her books-that last one was a shocker.
I wonder if that title indicates she is writing of the time before the last one....hmmm....I will look for it-I have been waiting to see what she would do-or not-after With No One As Witness.

I got the info from her website and yes, the new one does address the shocking ending of the last book. You know, her website used to have a forum for fans but people were so angry about that plot development that I saw they pulled that feature. At least I assume that's why they pulled it.

I just completed my first BSJ......it is a simple enough pattern to do ( although I am an accomplished knitter, not a beginner)....BUT....you will have to follow the chart which is included ....exactly. During the knitting I could not imagine how this silly thing was going to go together ! It does, and nicely too. I did make an error when doing M1 . In order to avoid a hole you must K that st in the back of the st. I ended up with nicely spaced holes near the beginning of each sleeve edge and decided to weave a ribbon through it and tie it in a bow. Cute addition for a girlie sweater. My only advice is to choose a good yarn that will knit up in an interesting way. The variegated ones sometimes don't do up as well as you'd think. I imagine that a self-striping would be really nice. My advice: DO IT !!

I watched Mrs Palfrey as a BBC TV 'Play for Today', taken from the book, back in the early '70's with Celia Johnson as the original Mrs P. The film was made from the play/from the book. Johnson was the wife of Peter Fleming the 'adventurer' and brother of Ian F (think 007) Tim I have read some stuff by Taylor . . . just can't think what at the moment.

Hi Carolyn -- It's good to be remembered. I guess I just got busy. We moved (downsized) in 2011 and yet we still have two storage areas of "stuff" to go through, and, I hope, get rid of. And I waste too much time on Facebook. I still check in here on occasion, though, to see how you all are doing and what you are reading. I'll try to check in more often. Reading books for two book clubs and reading my own choices in between keeps me busy reading. But like all of you, I love it. Sorry to hijack you thread, Paula. I do have her web site on my favorites and went there after reading your message-so did see the info on the new book.
Then I went to our library web site but they don't have it listed. They used to have a category named "Coming Soon to a Library Near You" but they removed it and a search does not show it among their books-so I put in a request for them to buy it-so we will see. If they don't get it I will definitely buy it.

I called reference on the phone and asked if they had a list for something not yet published and they do. Maybe your library has just not put it online yet. My library is a member of a consortium, as I guess most of them are, and my copy may come from any of those libraries. I just checked and my library alone has four copies on order so I guess, Pat, we are not the only ones waiting for this.

Thanks Ginny! I've placed my hold at the library and I'm only #45 - sometimes by the time I hear about a book there are already hundreds of holds. I'm even more eager than usual to read her next book after what happened in the last one.

I have eagerly been awaiting the latest book. I feel as you do, Ginny. I was quite unaware of the Pakistani population in England before reading her novels.
