That is so neat, though I think I'd tire of living there rather quickly. I loved the bed in the master bedroom, though. I think I could live happily with that.

Hi...i got several of the Prime Ark Freedom Blackberries, one plant has been in the ground 2 years the other 2 just since this March.......the newly planted one is growing rather good with 1 Blackberry almost ready to pick , however that is it for the plant as i'm assuming these are Primocanes, unless these are laterals off off the Floricanes ? This was a 2 inch plug i got there was very little growth so all this green growth i would assume is just laterals but as far as the rest of the season goes since this is a double cropping blackberry and like a Raspberry the Fall Crop would be on the tips of the Primocanes. I'm not that familiar with this cultivar at all, and or it's growth habits, i got lots of suckers that have emerged as new plants so i'm thinking eventually the fruiting laterals and buds will show up on those. If anyone has this variety familiar with the Summer and Fall Crop and about when the summer crop starts and when the Fall Crop starts i'm in New York ....Zone 7. Here's a pic of my first Freedom Blackberry As you can see the cane growing here is almost parallel with the ground with just one Berry at the tip, i'm wondering will i get more berries on the rest of this cane this Fall or have to prune it just below the fruited portion of the cane here, or is it a lateral coming out of the crown not sure. This pic shows the whole plant with the Primocane about 30 inches tall, the one on bottom and right could be a lateral off Floricane at base or a Primocane that grew weird like that Any and all help is welcome

My grandparents were mostly born not only in the US, but in Chicago before the turn of the century, unusual for our tribe. Before the Depression, my grandfather was very wealthy, and his young bride had a number of "Depression glass" pieces. They lost every penny in the Crash, and my mother grew up bewtween that and WW2 rationing. When grandma died, I asked for the glass candy dishes and crocks in ruby red and green, plus her 1920 Deco dishes. I have carried those keepsakes with me for the past 20 years, over international water, moving to new countries, new houses, you name it. I also have my paternal grandmother's soup pot, which I still use all the time; it must be at least 60-70 years old. But the most missed thing for me are the stories of my great uncle, grandma's brother. As a young Jewish boy in the 1920's, the story goes that 6 months before completing dental school, he upped and left to be a hobo and ride the rails. The family was so ashamed that they never allowed him to tell the stories, especially to us kids growing up in the 60's. He died never having told any of the family of his travels. My sisters and I always felt that this was a huge loss.

Thanks for all the invaluable information. It looks like I wasn't the only one that needed some guidance, alas. Even though we have had so little rain this year, I've managed to keep most of the new and newer small/medium sized trees happy. I have lost almost every single small potted or miniature type conifer I planted this year and lots of perrenials. Live and learn. I haven't lost one thing that I mail ordered or bought directly at Klehm's on my bus trip however . I personally think it speaks to their stock and their caretaking. Ken, you really helped me understand something important. Brown needles from the inside means something different than turning brown on the tips and receeding in. Guess I'll stop watering a few more "goners" and start dreaming about what I'll replace them with in the future! Yes, it makes me sick but I will never give up the enjoyment and personal satisfaction. I am also guilty of buying and planting another tree this past week. It looked good, the price was right, and it was talking to me. I do plan on trying to plant in the fall and spring when possible but in that case, it will have a better chance in the ground, IMO. Andy, thanks for your thoughts. I have grafted and own-root roses and both do very well. But some people here at the Far North stick with own-root because they perform better in their location. Multiflora is definitely the best rootstock for our climate. This past fall I dug up 3 old, grafted hybrid teas and they had very clearly formed their own roots as well as using the rootstock. It was actually very interesting to see. (I dug them up to move them to my new house BTW, not to dispose of them). According to HelpMeFind, some of the rarer Bugnets are on display at Roseraie du TÃ©mis in Quebec. Wow I would like to visit there. Here is a link that might be useful: Roserie d. T.

Did he build it? Also it looks like everything in it is carved of wood, including the cloth over the little table. Am I seeing this right?

The whole house is a sculpture and not meant to be lived in. There are three of them, and he plans to build 7 more, in various countries.

I don't know about a house made of books, although I do live in a house filled with books. I so want a library in my house. Books are stashed everywhere! Under the bed, in all my storage areas, there is hardly storage for anything else in my house. My husband doesn't really read(only the newspaper!)He cannot understand my obsession with books. I guess I'll have to wait until my boys move out, then I will fill their bedrooms with books! When they come home from college their rooms probably will be made out of books!
