Grelobe, those pictures are wonderful! I particularly liked the Agatha Christie one with her books piled around her.

I wish I could say I miss my old typewriters (I had a manual one and an electric one), but I find writing on the computer so much easier even it lacks a certain writer-ly romance.

He must have been so young...his face still looks unlined and vibrant. Do you have a picture of that young flyboy? I'm always in awe when looking at WWII pictures...mostly youngsters. My Dad was in the Pacific but he was Regular Army and age early thirties. He's gone now so cherish this time with your Dad...and a big salute to him from me too. josh

LOOKING for: recipe for old fashioned peanut butter candy
Q
Comments (25)
Recipe: 3 3/4 cup white sugar 1 1/2 cup light corn syrup 1 cup hot water 4 Cups creamy peanut butter Boil syrup water and sugar to 295 degrees. Spread peanut butter onto a large sprayed cookie sheet with sides. Pour hot syrup over peanut butter and fold in quickly. Turn out and roll with a rolling pin. Cut and cool completely. It seems like a simple recipe but I will tell you I have a hard time getting it too turn out right every time. I have found that using all brand ingredients works best for me: others use generic peanut butter. Also, it helps to have two people folding from opposite ends of the pan coming together. We tried making this past weekend and all batches didn't turn out completely right except one. Hopefully you are able to get it to turn out because I almost bet this is the recipe you have been searching for. Happy Candy making!

grelobe, a nice collection of pics. I think Francoise Sagan must have got a crick in her neck from typing laid out on the carpet. Amazing to think what a short time it has taken for typewriters to be taken over by these computer keyboards, which might soon be doing the actual writing for us. Headings such as 'a thank you letter to an Aunt' press plus sub-section lists of gifts received press suitable response press and so on.

While I do not miss working on typewriters (all of that "white-Out!!), I confess I enjoyed their portability. No wi-fi needed, just plop a typewriter on a rock, or a dock, or a grassy patch next to a stream and you were ready to write. (yes, I am romanticizing here... one also had to carry paper, ribbon, and the typewriter itself!)

Thank you Grelobe!
