I read another book by him called, "Red Earth and Pouring Rain". It was really different. Kind of mystical, a little like 1001 Arabian Nights, a monkey has to tell stories to keep from being killed by a monster and all the villagers sit around listen to the story.

I recently read Sacred Games and enjoyed it, although I must admit that I found Ganesh's convoluted theories a bit difficult. Also, I early realized that Chandra's glossary was far from complete and lots of Indian words were not listed, but then that would have proably added another 1000 pages to the book! Nevertheless I found that many of the words listed in the glossary were later defined within the context of the same sentence, so I more or less gave up flipping back and forth.

I've also decided that between Chandra's Sacred Games, which I read in less than a week due to not being able to leave the house much, and Vikram Seth's A Suitable Boy, I must forego long books about India as much as I love them, at least until I have eye surgery. LOL
