Swing for the Fences With Baseball Decor
Show major-league style with artwork, memorabilia and other baseball-theme elements that are fan-tastic
“People ask me what I do in winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring." — Rogers Hornsby
The wait is over! Forget Punxsutawney Phil and the vernal equinox; in America, the first crack of the bat marks the start of spring. The baseball season is officially in full swing, and it's time to head to the park for peanuts, Cracker Jack and, my personal favorites, Fenway Franks and Dippin' Dots. If you're a die-hard fan, pick up some merch and bring the fun of baseball into your home. Whether you want to proudly display a treasured autographed ball collection or create a themed bedroom for a child, these rooms can inspire your fanfare.

If you're going to go for a theme, it's OK to go all out. There is not a detail left unconsidered in this Wrigley Field–themed room; check out the baseball stitching on the drapes and the details on the piggy bank.
You may decide to instill loyalty to a team from infancy; while I'm not sure if any studies have been done, it's possible a mobile based on your favorite baseball team over the crib could create a lifelong fan.
"This wall of pennants is in a teenage boy's bedroom — the family makes the rounds of all the baseball stadiums together," says Bud Dietrich, a Florida architect and fellow Houzz contributor. All the pennants were picked up on their baseball park travels.
The horizontal lines and grayscale picture keep the overall aesthetic clean and contemporary here.
The client’s youngest son wanted his favorite sports photo on his wall. The team at DKOR worked with several different vendors to get it done. First they had to obtain permission to use the copyrighted photo. Second they had it printed in sections onto canvas. The third step was having it wrapped around wood panel frames. The last step was the very precise installation.

A similar technique takes on a very different look with a close-up photograph of baseballs.
Wrigley Field is honored again, this time with an architecture-inspired modern look. A wall covering resembles blown-up architectural plans, including fun facts about the iconic field. A limited color palette and contemporary shelving give the room streamlined style.
Of course, not every Chicagoan is a Cubs fan. This White Sox mural can grow with a child; in a few years when the stuffed animals go, the room will be just fine for a tween. The image works well with the gunmetal-gray palette.
This New York Yankees–themed room has street style, incorporating some graffiti tagging. It also brings the stadium feeling with a grass-like shag rug and a ceiling painted like the sky.
Baseball also goes really well with more traditional patterns, like stripes and plaid.

Another more subtle way to bring in the theme is via a quote, in this case from Hall of Famer Carl Yastrzemski. The entire quotation is:
"I think about baseball when I wake up in the morning. I think about it all day and I dream about it at night. The only time I don't think about it is when I'm playing it."

America's favorite pastime is not limited to being honored in the bedroom; this bathroom is a fun play on baseball diamonds and stitching.
Some people create custom walls and art lighting and soffits for Picassos and Chagalls; others create custom racks, cabinetry and lighting to display bats, balls, jerseys and other prized memorabilia.
