Thanks for listening, Jan and Vee - and so glad you enjoyed it. It's a harrowing piece of work. The music was mainly Dvorak chamber music, with some Stravinsky and a little Debussy. I don't know the details - the producer chose it. She's absolutely brilliant at choosing music (and at everything else, actually), though she always asks for any suggestions. Dramatists are invited to make suggestions for casting, too, which is nice; though you don't always get who you want because the actors might be unavailable. Jan, I don't know if it'll be out on CD, but I suspect not. I'll let you know if it is though. D.

I never could decide which kind of story I thought it was: a psychological ghost story or a psychological thriller. I do know it is one of the spookiest stories I have read, in a purely psychological sence. Contrary to some of you, I did not find James's style that difficult to follow, although I agree it is complicated. (I remember thinking it would be very hard to translate his style). This probably has to do with being used to reading some extremely hard-to-follow stuff my countrypeople have written in English, using Icelandic sentence structures. James is easy by comparison.

I was only online once this week...spent 3 hours looking for work on Internet... too tired afterwards. I felt bad when I came here today, and saw all your messages to me... followed by days without a response from me. It might've looked as if I'd lost interest; but here I am. I just had to post here now -- Just finished listening to all the rest (episodes 7 through 10). And I have to say -- the ending was beautifully done. Vic's soliloquy at the end is lovely advice. ... We've been able to recyle cardboard here for a long time. Not only cereal boxes, think toilet and towel paper rolls, kleenex boxes, cardboard from various packaging (think of the ridiculous amount in toy packages) and of course cardboard boxes (flatten first) We also recycle plastic bottles and other plastic products (just have to check the number on the bottom - anything 2-6 is considered recyclable). Sometimes our recycling bin is filled more than our garbage bin! >I have been turning off....air conditioner when not in use and have noticed a lowering of my electricity bill. Double check this one. Its always been a controversy around here whether you should just raise your AC when you leave the house, or turn it off, and then turn it on when you return. Which one saves more electricity? We generally turn ours up to 78 when we leave, turn it back to 74 when we return. I suspect that it takes less energy to cool it four degrees than it might to cool it 20 (remember tho I live in a place where 110 degree days are not uncommon in the summer. Might be different in milder climates) I shop local when I can - certainly the local indie (tho I still use Amazon and Borders for new books), and our Farmer's Market. Theres also this great local Taqueria (taco shop) near our house that I just love. Unfortunately, shopping locally means higher prices at times. If going local means driving 20 minutes, I have to decide whether I want to waste gas, or save money and use less gas. It is a cunnundrum. But I do try when I can.
