Spring has Spawned!

Well, it happened last night. After about 3 weeks of posing, croaking and low key canoodeling, the first clump was laid. Tonight it is absolute mayhem out there, and counted at least 50 frogs (and one brave newt) out there!

Hope the picture worked below, that was a picture from last years efforts. Will bring some spawn in the house again this year to bring up to larger tadpole stage in case of more freezing pond nights and give them a chance against the very hungry nymphs.

It is so exciting! (And thanks for the Springwatch site--my clump has been registered).

Did you know that they stay in a clinch for 24-48 hours to successfully spawn? What can one say?
