Yes, It's still alive.
It looks now like some of its small intestines have protruded but it can now dive.
We had a heron prowling around several times today.
If that had taken any frogs I imagine that this would be the one but the poorly froggy is still there tonight.

Glad to hear the patient is doing well. I wonder if the suggestion of the rubber snake would discourage your heron in the kindest possible way!

I found him today hiding in a hole outside the pond.
His injuries must have been too serious
I topped up the pond today to its normal level,
thousands of young taddies wriggling about.

Sorry to hear it, your frogs genrally though I think must be really lucky to have such a good guardian angel! I am amazed at times how some of the disabled ones do manage to survive. During spawning season this year I noticed one frog with one back leg cleanly amputated. He was quite large so has been surviving for some time. I suspect he lives most of the time in the pond or just outside, and I just notice him during all the spring activity. For a couple of years there was also one-eyed Jack ( named for obvious reasons), who I haven't see this year. There is a lot of cover in and around the pond, which is great for them but makes my watching more difficult. Anyway, I agree with the other postings--they need all the help they can get!

We too have had a heron lurking around the pond. They are like pre-historic creatures when you see them close up. And wonder how they land and take off in our tiny garden.
Most of all I worry for our frogs as they're not good at diving under when I approach the pond. How do we teach them - or is that nature?

I would hope that nature has a warning for all creatures when danger is near and I am sure that the frogs would soon dive away if threatened. If not - I suppose we have to think that Herons still need to eat just like anything else.
