You need to spray in fall as soon as the leaves fall and preferably again in the spring at first bud swell. Any later does no good. Your spray this past year was too late. I have 2 varieties of fruiting peach, bought last fall, bare root/dormant - 'Reliance' and 'Flat Wonderful'. Both are presently growing red/purple leaves, and both are growing from well above the graft. Whether they will go green as the summer moves on, I don't know. But I bought both on the basis of the description of the fruit, and I will be very upset if they don't bear fruit. Of course, the Japanese beetles may make the whole waiting period moot - they do seem to like peaches! The late frost did in the fruit for this year, despite what I thought was a sheltered spot - there's always next year, I guess.

I have recently planted (couple years ago) Contender Peach trees - one has taken off and the other never has. I live in East Liverpool OH and last year noticed my fruit was spoiling and turning dark with all my leaves looking like this. I've yet to get a harvest as my tree wasn't mature enough until last year. I sprayed Bonide Fruit tree spray last fall/winter and now I'm wondering what else to try. It doesn't seem to have worked at all. Any suggestions?

I have not used copper but hear it works well. I spray mine with a fungicide containing chlorothalonil and it works great! However, they must be sprayed while the tree is dormant and before the bud scales even swell and crack in spring. Too late to spray for this fungus once the leaves are out. I try to spray in March with great results. This year we hit some real warm weather in late February so I got the job done then.
