not really.. a good DEEP watering.. and a good mulch.. and near drying in between is requisite for all trees and shrubs .. especially prior to becoming fully established .. [dig hole sand find out if there is any moisture a few inches down ] and i adrian MI.. its been one horribly hot and drought stricken year ... superficially spraying the leaves and the surface.. is problematic ... since you are shooting down into the plant.. i am thinking it is a shrub ... so we all look forward to further pix.. for a full ID ... and while you are at it.. explain how you apply water ... ken

How are you Annie.. Sorry I cannot help you with that one what colour flower does it have

I planted Tropical Nectarine "Sundowner" nearly 2 years ago, its growing ok so if you can keep the fruit fly away they are a nice eating fruit. I pulled the Honey Murcott Mandarine out as they grew like little bullets, and if the Navelina Navel Orange does not produce fruit this year its going too.. I have clay soil also so my trees are all in raised beds...MM.

Harpullia pendula! I certainly would not recommend as a hedge, I have one and it's at least 7 to 8 metres tall and similarly wide. For a native hedge, I use various hybrid syzygium but only those less prone to attack, especially by psycillids.
