Hi Amber & welcome, I'm sorry that you have to start over, but pls. read the Rules here. Also read the Rules at the Exchange Page next door. Asking for plants is not allowed, I'm sorry to have to discourage you from doing this. One has to offer trade (or at least offer to pay postage, just that alone is also discouraged). I DO see your offer to make hangers for them so I see you are trying. Perhaps you can get a couple of cuttings from your neighbors just to get you started. Or maybe get a couple of cheapy starters from the big box stores?

This fair was an absolute delight and the weather could not have been better. I was amazed at the number of people there and from the talk around us they seemed to come from far and wide around the State; and the stallholders - it was wonderful to see the people from whom I have bought plants, e.g. Nutshell Nursery, Lambley (David Glenn was so pleasant), Mistydown, Eastcoast Perennials, and many others. Of course, I bought quite a few plants and have plans to buy more as some of the plants had already been sold out when we got there and that was on the Saturday morning. I'm sure that the organisers of the fair would be well pleased with the turn-out. I would have been lovely to meet up with any Gardenwebbers. Maybe next time.

Yes, I bought a bunch of shells to start mostly Dischidias in and I just drill a hole at the bottom. But interestingly, some shells are VERY hard and thick and difficult to drill! Others just take a second or two. The challenge is finding some kind of wire to use to hang the shell with - I'm working on that. You can put air plants (Tillandsias), Dischidias, small Hoyas (I have a hueschkeliana in one; picta would be excellent in one as well...) Nice thing is that you can hang them anywhere - if you have a few inches between some plants, hang one of these little works of art. Denise in Omaha

Sinningia! Whuddathot. I've sworn off gesneriads so that's kind of a relief. I'll just ogle yours from here on, Kara. Here are some of mine (fall and spring growers) finally out of the basement. Aloinopsis schooneesii; I'm showing you guys the ugly side because this is the spot I've had to remove pieces from to stop a spreading rot. That gave me two smaller clumps and it did stop the rot. No guts no glory, I guess. Here is one clump, now two years old and still buried. I think I may have given the other one away, or it fell into a corner somewhere, never to be found. And from left, Othonna euphorbiodes, Othonna clavifolia and Tylecodon ventricos (this one needs a butt-load of sun in winter). And, below---really not fat yet, but it will be someday! I really like starting small. This one used to be taller but a Catzilla incident cut down the main trunk. Fortunately, it's crazy easy to root.
