There are so many lovely things...but I feel sad to imagine that some don't get put to use. I do adore the children's book collection, though...mostly because I can imagine sitting and flipping through them by the hour. (And I have three children, two of whom could be trusted to do the same without trying to eat the pages.)

That said, no collections for me. I can't even keep up on the everyday things of life, let alone keep a collection from looking like a hoarder's worst nightmare.

I'd love to see a stamp collector display; I collect stamps. Nice article!

Well, I'm kind of torn. I enjoyed reading this article and looking at the collections; it's kind of like going to a museum. I always enjoy museums and thrift/junk/antique stores. I have some small collections of my own, but they are small. I wouldn't enjoy having items taking over my house, that's for sure. I wouldn't want to dust all that stuff. I wouldn't want it to become a problem for my loved ones when I am gone. And yet, I enjoy my little collections. For me I guess that's the key, keeping it small. I read a lovely quote recently that has greater meaning for me as I get older. It's this: "Life is best traversed with as little baggage as possible. " I suppose if you have room in your life for a fabulous collection, that's great, but if it encroaches too heavily on the lives of the people you live with or is too much to properly care for, that's another thing. I am happy that some things are being preserved for generations to come and appreciate that some people are happy in the role of caretakers of these things. Good balance, modesty and moderation are important to me in my life, and my life would not be able to support large collections. Just having a household is collection enough for me, and I'm paring that down.
