I may be wrong, but they may just start shooting when they are ready. I have had other tubers that do that. Just keep and eye on them.

Have a read of the webpage below. I would suggest watering from the bottom, and keeping the plant on the dry side, and beware of fertilisers, you are liable to get very nice leaves but few or no flowers. My mother's plant is still blooming well from Mothers Day last year. It get a small amount of water from below daily, no fertiliser.

A tip with cyclamens - if you've ever had one that has dried out, you will know that they remain droopy, even after watered. If you lay the pot on its side after watering, and place the leaves where you want them to be, it will hold its shape once it revives.

We have 8 plants in one of those plastic troughs. They were repotted about 2 months ago and now are growing extremely well. As noted above , they should not be watered so the crown of the bulb gets wet, bottom watering is safest. They were potted in premium commercial mix.

I tried repotting a cyclamen last year that I had bought the winter before, but the flowering was really poor, even though I fertilised regularly. This year I have tossed it and bought a new one.

When I first had one, I treated it with kid gloves, no overhead watering, etc. and it didn't see the season out. I have found that cyclamens don't mind the overhead watering as long as the drainage is good. I soak mine in the sink and then drain well all year round. They never go dormant and flower at least twice each year. When I went away on holidays, the plant 'carer' thought it was a weeping plant and didn't water it until it just about turned up its toes. Planted it out in a bright spot with dappled shade and it is thriving and watered by overhead sprinklers. Hasn't once gone dormant, has multiplied and the leaves are HUGE and is covered with flowers again about twice a year. Now have a few planted out in their third season and all are doing well, and none have gone dormant. Most are multiplying nicely. The soil is 'born again' clay. Lots of clay breaker, composted material and cow manure mixed with mountain soil. I did find though, that if in pots inside, especially if you have ducted heating, put them outside at night. It certainly revives them.

I have a cyclamen on our back deck that faces east.It looks droopy and dry at times and is watered from above. I think it needs to be re potted and maybe a bit of a boost of something

I have one that has stayed green all year-Cyclamen persica-the house one. The outside ones all died back and I have just seen a few shoots so potted up the lot intto baskets. They all just got watered with the hose last year although I was a bit more careful with the above as it was in it's own pot.
