If you have an interest in Native Plants, the GA Perimeter College/Decatur Campus has a Native Plant Botanical Garden that is open to the public. Don't know if they have a guide available during weekends, but every plant is labeled, so a self directed tour is possible. Many times, there isn't anything wrong with a young, outwardly healthy cat. But I often detect heart murmurs, dental disease, internal masses, orthopedic problems (luxating patellas are not uncommon, arthritis also), enlarged lymph nodes, ear infections, skin problems, and other issues that the owner never notices. Things that can be addressed before the cat is anorexic, in pain, or dying. Most indoor only cats are overweight, and I can help come up with a diet that works for the cat's lifestyle and preferences. In most if not all states, rabies vaccines are required by law even for indoor cats. The safest rabies vaccine is the one year non-adjuvented PureVax vaccine. So you probably have to see the vet once a year anyway for that. Of course, it's always the owner's choice how often to seek wellness care for their pets.

I have to disagree with your doctor, Glenda. If you think you could be having a stroke, you should ALWAYS head to the ER because time is of the essence. You probably shouldn't drive yourself, but definitely get there somehow. Wonder why he said that to you? Anyway, I'm so sorry that you are feeling low and hope your trip helps with that. Ellen, Colleen and Sylvia...thank you for your responses. I think I need to maintain my focus on self-care. The fact of the matter is, the only thing I have in common with any of DH's adult children is him. If we met on the street, I would not think to myself, "Boy, I would like to get to know them better." They would probably say the same thing about me. I do love step-grandaughter and it is important to me to maintain a relationship with her. Truth be told, as important to me as she is, I simply do not want to subject myself to her uncle in order to please her. If I ever do go to see step-granddaughter in the town where she lives, I will wait to do so during a period when DH's son is out of town on vacation or something. Otherwise, we can meet in other places or she can fly back here on vacation...that will have to do. Thanks again to those of you who responded!
