Update on my ER visit and DR's visit today/

Last Wed, visit to Er thinking a stroke.

NOPE

Depressed.

Prescription: anti depressant, which I waited until I had my annual visit today.

My regular doctor said the ER was totally unnecessary.

Diagnosis: depression, but I can wait until I get back from Scotland/Ireland trip. See how I am, and how I am BEFORE next cruise in mid Sept.

Said to check in between trips and see how I feel.

So there you go.

I have great support from friends. I am blessed.

He didn't do the the regular checkup, cause I had a list of my problems.

Did to blood workup: three viles. One for thyroid

Friend came and packed me, today, so I'm set so go.

Guess that is what you want to hear!

Gosh Glenda..I'm sorry you are going through this...I sure hope that things get figured out and that you have a sunny disposition soon! Enjoy that trip..I am so jealous!

Well, I guess this is good. As for the new med, it probably is wise to be starting it when you'll be home and can check with him if there are any questions. I hope (and believe) you'll be fine on your trip. I bet you are really looking forward to it.

You were worried about steps/railings. If a flight of steps just looks too difficult, then wait and look around at whatever level you are on, until the group comes back. You don't want to get into a predicament with steps, or even take a...well, I don't want to say it! Best wishes for a fabulous trip.

Thanks Lynn. I was hoping you wouldn't take my concerns the wrong way and appreciate what you're saying. I have not talked to the doctor about it but there are others who work in the same space as she and they obviously know and don't care. Also there have been things the Doctor has said and done to both of us at one time or another that IMHO were out of line and have always bothered me. I dread going so much that I've decided to find another doctor that would be a better fit. It sounds like your husband is a wonderful physician. We've been through a couple of different doctors since moving here trying to find a good fit. I know the medical profession is not easy these days, not for anyone but I just wish I could find one doctor who is focused when she's in with patients and/or who had better bedside manners. Anyways, a perfect example of what I'm referring to with this receptionist is the last time I left her office, I advised her in a fairly quiet tone that I needed to schedule an appointment for my "annual exam" and she says in an unusually loud voice, "so would that be for a pap?". Since that's what most people including the doctor call it, I just assumed she would know what I was talking about but I guess not. I was so embarrassed, I turned to see if there was anyone else in the room and there were 3-4 men sitting right there burying their heads, obviously they were equally uncomfortable. This is not the first time, I've experienced similar situations in other offices too. I think because they are around it all the time and aren't phased by it all, that they just don't think about it, but with HEPA laws and all that, I'm just surprised at how obtuse some offices are in their practices.

Mom seems to be feeling pretty well. They think she has breast cancer, with spots on her liver and pancreas as well. She goes to see the surgeon when she returns to B.C. (She lives with my DSis out there) Anyway, she also struggles with gastro paresis, where her stomach muscles are not moving the food along and it blocks up and causes a lot of pain. So she needs to eat lots of fruit and vegetables, and drink tons of water. It would be better if she had one liquid meal a day, but she's sick of that, so smoothies are out. One of my cousins that we visited the other day has a cherry farm, so we picked cherries and have been nibbling on them everyday and believe me, they've cleaned her out! LOL! So the last 3 nights, she's had no pain. YAY! Sunday, we went to my DD's for Father's Day dinner, so Mom got to spend some time with my Grandsons. She had a lovely time with them. Today she surprised me and made me take her shopping for a new table, chairs, and umbrella set for my new deck (when it gets built. Waiting for quotes now). What a surprise! I asked why and she said, "Because I can and I want to"! She was willing to buy the best, but I managed to find something I really like on sale for less than $500.00. It was a lovely surprise and I think she enjoyed doing it as much as I enjoy getting it. Tomorrow some of her friends are coming over for the afternoon to visit and stay for a bbq. The next day we go get our hair done together. Then she is to be picked up by my DB on Thursday for a visit with him and his wife. Gotta go and get some sleep. Nitey nite all!

Thanks liesbeth. :) I hope you are right. SS has been extra nice to me since yesterday, and also he's been displaying some funny (kind of strange but sweet) behavior: he repeats and agrees with everything I say. At dinner, DH and I started chuckling because literally everything I said, SS repeated. Example: Me: The garden torches need to be be lit. SS: Yeah, the garden torches need to be lit. Me: These chips are spicy! SS: Yeah, the chips are spicy! Me: I'm excited about the movie we're seeing tomorrow. SS: I'm excited about the movie tomorrow. And so on and so on... He must have repeated or agreed with everything I said! It is sweet, but also kind of sad because I think he is just really, really worried I am angry with him or angry with his mom. DH said yesterday when they were driving home SS was crying and saying that I was going to hate him, and DD was going to hate him, and he was so afraid I was angry with him because his mom called the police. :( It IS sad. DH's plan for the moment is to cut off contact w/BM. He is answering the phone and handing it to SS once a day, around bedtime. I know at some point he and BM will have to talk, but he maintains it will all be via text or email now. I hope and pray he can stick with it...the problem is, my DH will be all gung-ho in a crisis (ie, when BM came to our home drunk) but then he "forgets" about it and goes back to "normal." Really, if he does that this time, I am going to leave. I need him to set some HARD and FIRM boundaries with BM and the rest of her psycho family--her mom is a WACKADOODLE. I have pretty much told him this is my final warning---I will not and cannot take anything else. So he is planning to cut contact between the two of them and he is going to stick to the parenting plan 100% in regards to drop offs/pickups, times, etc. He wants NO GRAY AREA with anything. He is also going to do exchanges at the police station for the time being---mainly, because he is not comfortable going alone to BM's house to drop or pick up SS. Who knows what false allegation BM could make up about DH? That is his plan...we'll see if he sticks to it...if not, I am bailing because if he doesn't---he and SS are a sinking ship, and I just can't, much as I love and care about them, let DD go down w/them.

I have to disagree with your doctor, Glenda. If you think you could be having a stroke, you should ALWAYS head to the ER because time is of the essence. You probably shouldn't drive yourself, but definitely get there somehow. Wonder why he said that to you? Anyway, I'm so sorry that you are feeling low and hope your trip helps with that. Have a wonderful time, Glenda. Every time my daughter sees pictures of England/Scotland, she sighs, wishing she could go back.

that's behind you (and yes if you're feeling scared, i'd head to the er asap, anyday!) so on to wooly sheep, bagpipes, and castles...remember we armchair visitors and pictures!

Have to good time and you will feel better after the trip. But do remember to take copies of any prescriptions you are taking, your meds (carry them with you), and phone numbers of your medical staff and pharmacy. Many foreign countries do have good medical centers and your tour guide will help you.

Have a great time Glenda. I hope you will consider taking the anti-depressant. I take one and feel so much better than I did before I started taking it. I actually didn't know how bad I felt until I felt better if that makes any sene.

Now, go have a great time and takes lots of pictures. We will need a full report when you get back.
