Sorry brom names aren't my specialty but when I turn my head on the side it looks great as does the rest of the garden.

Well you are lucky you can turn your head GH. I had a bit of trouble viewing it.
Yes Richard you garden looks fantastic on a angle What's that purple plant near it.
And where are you hiding all your bamboo's I would love to see the ghost one.

Thanks for the replies,Misty,this isnt my garden its a neighbours.The purple plant around it is Tradescantia pallida- a useful drought tolerant groundcover.My ghost bamboo has only been in the ground for about 10 months,but is doing well,i will post a pic for you soon.I promise to turn the pics round next time!

If you have the time, browse through the pictures in the online Bromeliad Encyclopedia of the Florida Council of Bromeliad Societies (link below). I think it is the most comprehensive collection of bromeliad pics.

I have a hunch you plant mey be a Vriesea or Werauhia. Have a look at the pics of V. gigantea var. seideliana.
