Its great to have a garden critter like that sorry to read that your one has a attitude problem.
We have a Bearded Dragon in our garden we call it Dusty it does not hiss at us and never lays in the grass
Though we have to be very careful that we don't run over it as it often sun-bakes on the driveway which is blue metal and the same colour as it.

Oh, my, well, thanks Misty. My driveway, too, is stony; gravel, brown and blondy coloured. Blue metal and I'd never see Snailey and knowing his/her attitude you could never convince her an aggressive yellow throat and a defiant stance would scare off a rolling car tyre. Mind you, I haven't seen her since last summer. She had a boyfriend, you know, a least a friend, a bigger and blacker acquaintence, but I haven't seen him either. Hope car tyres haven't.... , well, I hope not!

Oh my goodness it is so good to have a laugh now and again. I can just imagine you on you mower Bill, trying to avoid squashing your little friend, but I wouldn't swop him for my doggie.

Umm, yes, I think a dog and I could get to know each other Trich, and I'd value that: my late brother-in-law was a great dogger and I always got on well with his canines, and generally (except when I was a jogger) I've never had a problem with any dog I've come into contact with. Tell you the truth though, there were a few of his I got thoroughly sick of chucking stick for - for them to fetch, you know. I'm not sure he trained his dogs all that well, or understood them. Mind you, if he were alive now he'd take unbrage with me over that. But really, a dog or cat just wouldn't fit with my wild critters, including snakes. Got a kangaroo, too, you know, visits my neighbour and comes grazing up to the fence-line now-'n-again, bounds off when he/she sees me. And a couple of magpies I've befriended, even though I've gone so far as to wear a black and white cap about the garden during their breeding season, doesn't bother them if you get to know them despite so-called experts comments to the contrary. It's something, you know to, to be accepted as part of their world and not be feared or to fear in their presence. I don't feed the maggies, or the resident kookaburra, or the lizards, ghekos, skinks, snakes, spiders, whatever; though, whenever I can I'll feed something to a preying mantis I come across and make sure I don't accidently kill, and whenever I sink a spade into the soil there the maggie is, and sometimes the kooka, both no more than a metre from my feet checking out every sod I turn. So nice to be trusted by them, and it takes time to earn their trust! And I've rewarded them with some big fat curl-grubs over the years, especially from my compost heap. Interesting the intelligence of critters and, if you pose no threat and don't intrude on their space you really do become part of the scene. Your yard/garden really is a wonderful world.

A real "snappy' snap Bill and I hope they return with a little family.Those claws on those little feet certainly look as they can dig a bit. By the way I think I saw a grass hopper today ,it only landed for a second and took off.We have a fresh northerly and the wind over the next few days
will probably bring a lot more our way.

Yeah, Chas, I forgot to mention them claws, don't think I'd fancy 'em against my skin. I've noticed the odd grass hopper about too recently; big, grey, hungry looking buggers. Wouldn't relish being a farmer with a plague of them threatening my livlihood.
