ID this rose please?

It must be a very common one because it was only $1.01 from Kmart at the end of their throw out bare root rose sale. It was cheap because it had no label.

Now that I know what colour it is I can take it out of pot and place it in the garden next to suitable colours and rose types.

It looks to me like a hybrid tea. It is a 3ft standard if that is any help.

Looks a bit like Apricot Nectar, just a guess though ?.
I have paid more than that for roses with labels and when flowered look nothing like the label.

Thank you, Seil! You know, I bought a used book called " The Ultimate Rose Book." It has something like 300,000 roses, photographed and described, and when I found their picture of Love rose I realized that it was the same. They refer to it as a "Large-flowered" rose, but mention that some consider it a grandiflora. Nobody who saw mine would even entertain the thought. But I was curious so I looked it up online and, lo and behold - it's classified on Dave's Garden, Help Me Find, Jackson & Perkins, and every site I found it on except one, as a grandiflora. It is also said to be hardy to zone 6, and I'm in 5b, so that may account for it's failure to grow a bit in all these years. Naturally, Jackson & Perkins (the original hybridizer, bought out by thieves) says it's hardy to zone 5... I was planning to move it to another spot in my garden, but under the circumstances I might just be best off to leave it alone as long as it's still alive.

Well with climate change things are not the same year in year out. Last winter we had a lot of days above 30F and without any snow accumulation. While in New York, they had multiple snow storms (the one we are used to experience in Montreal). In addition the polar vortex did affect the US down to Florida last winter. But in Montreal we didn't feel any of its effects. It was almost a summer destination.

Yes I also think it looks like Burgundy Iceberg. All the Iceberg roses are blooming in our neighborhood right now. The only Burgundy Iceberg on my walking route are too far from the sidewalk for me to get a whiff, but some of the white ones really waft nicely on a warm spring evening.

Looks exactly like a picture of Dame Elisabeth Murdoch in Treloars 05 catalogue but have not seen it in the flesh myself.Sorry can't help more.Theres so many roses it "could" be from the photo.Details of thorniness,colour of stems,colour and lustre of leaves would be a great advantage in identifying.

Thankyou peoples. It is fully open this morning so will go outside and take a photo.
See if it is easier to identify fully open.
Thankyou thrip didn't even think of those identifying characteristics. Will check on those whilst I am out the back.

No its not Apricot Nectar mine has opened fully today and the pink has gone.
So I reckon femmeradsy is right and it probably is Peace. Cheers..MM.

It looks like a peace rose to me but what would I know.
Any way it is still a bargain.

Wrong shape for Peace..could be any of several roses judging by the colour...e.g., Gold Medal, Sutter's Gold or Whiskey are most likely, but my guess is Gold Medal.

Hi,
I think it is a deffinate for Peace, gold medal has a more rounded petal and the other two arn't in the running.

Remember though there are a few cultivars of Peace I would like to see if the colour fades in the center of the open bloom, the out side pink ish colouring is consistant with some of the Peace strains.

I discovered a Sutter's Gold rosebud just opening & took a shot today... have a look and compare, though its not as open as happyjac's picture.
