How is your book memory?

Lately are books you are reading, or have read, as vivid as, say, ten years ago? I don't seem to get as enmeshed in books as I used to, and my memory is the pits. My DH says it's because I've read too many books. Ha!

I have a particular problem recalling mysteries and average-type novels. This is not necessarily bad -- I can enjoy rereading books because I've forgotten the details of the first go-around. But I sure feel like a dork when someone asks me if I've read such-and-such, and I know I have, but I can't relate a blamed thing about it.

What are your examples of books so indelible that you can close your eyes and be "in" those books again? My 86-year-old mother says hers is The Girl of the Limberlost, which she first read when she was nine years old.
