I have the same problem as yours. I bought some mixed freesia corms from a mail order place and planted them in containers approximately in the second or third week of February and kept them indoors because of the frosty conditions at night. Mine have the blades of grass deal since March second or third week and they are doing Nothing. As I was a little curious as well as upset (financial loss etc.) I researched a little bit about freesias and at least in one site said that no one can predict when they flower (if they flower)because sometimes they don't (lack of correct temparature) the flower buds won't be formed. It also recommended to raise them in control greenhouse conditions. I don't have greenhouse and so I am hoping at least one of them will bloom. I can totally sympathize your situation.

When I put in freesias I just dug away an area and placed them all and then carefully covered them, no individual holes dug. Since you have different depths for your types you have, you can layer them. You hyacinth and tulip would be deeper than crocus and freesia. I'm not sure about digging any up in your area, someone else will know, but if you do dig them you wouldn't want to layer them. I would allow some space for naturlizing if it is a concern to you. You will want to plant the shorter ones in front so they can be seen compared to others blooming at the same time. I think your watering is WAY more than they need and they will rot. I water mine once a day 5am for 5 minutes in summer and less often during winter. Depends on your soil and how sun, wind etc you get also. I'm just stingy with water being in a drought. ps-good luck in keep crocus around if you've got squirrels, chicken wire placed near top of soil would help though.

Hi Inga The reason I don't bother posting much is apart from you and two others no one bothers to reply so I am assuming not many people look at this site anymore.. Yes it would be getting cool where you are, yesterday we had our warmest day since last Autumn 29ðC so its starting to warm up at lone last mind you I have enjoyed the cooler wetter Spring it give our plants a change to produce better flowers. Lucky you seeing those beautiful maples turning colour that's something I never see here in the Sub-tropics. Thanks so much for taking the time to reply I will put any Natives on for you as they come into bloom..

Sequim is actually zone 8b by USDA charts....but I haven't been here long enough to tell you about sunlight during deep winter. Certainly drier than any place I've lived in western Washington! It does sound like trying a few in pots this year may be the way to go, with fingers crossed!
