Teasing Georgia in Melbourne

I planted Teasing Georgia David A. in my garden last year. I got a couple of sad little pale yellow flowers but lots of LONG canes. Should I pull her out or move her to a bigger spot? She was sort of close to two Just Joey's. If I move her , how big and wide does Teasing Georgia get? I cannot find her in any of my rose books.

Hi, On advice from this forum I pulled my TG out of the rose bed and put her against a wall. She had flowered beautifully but was trying to spread much too far. She is described by Treloars as a low climber. Mine is now sprouting in every direction and looking very happy.

Thank thank you Carolina girl. Now I just need to decide on the top portion my friend calls me everyday to ask have I decided how I want to do that. He calls me his designer! LOL! I am pleased with this little side gate as this is using the old Gothic fencing that's well over 70 years old from my house. Lots of it brought it and I couldn't use it for anything at my house so he took it in his recycling it there. It just makes me so happy to see it in use. I especially like the closing mechanism that I saw on a neighbor's gate and copied. I just can't decide if I want something that's full Arch, a slight Arch or something coming up to a peak as I originally planned for the overhead section. I'm just not sure if they're too many Peaks happening. LOL! I always wanted a walkthrough gate and since I don't have one at my house I might as well have one that I can visit. JC, those roses look fantastic. I can't believe how much they have grown. I planted a teasing Georgia and my friends Garden my garden last year so looking forward to growth like yours! I might plant in other climber on the backside of this Rose to mingle with the perennial blue. I'm hoping I have one called Golden Olymp which would look very lovely I think together.

Can you explain what you mean by letting them grow "naturally"? I assume you want to train your TGs to be climbers, so you will have to be vigilant about training them and attaching the canes to the trellis as they grow. Your trellises should work for that. This rose can be trained to be a climber (with training) or a shrub (with pruning) -- either way it needs some attention from the gardener.

Here in Michigan, TG is def. yellow and Bath. is a peachy colored rose. Their growth habits are quite different too: TG is a very large shrub of ~5' X 5' and Bath. is almost "viney" -- not stiff like a rambler, but very long flexible canes.

Fabulous!! Those blooms are to die for, such a rich and sunny yellow and I love the reddish tinge on the newly opened ! I am still waiting on buds from my TG this year, in zone 11, but she's just been a jolly green giant. I hope she will put on a beautiful show like yours does!
