Thank you guys for the leads ....I really appreciate it. The name of the bush is Senna Bicapsularis. It is also called Butterfly Cassia - Winter Cassia - Butterfly Bush - Christmas Senna. I couldn't have tracked it down without help to find the trail. Thanks again P.S. This is pure eyecandy for those who have not seen one.

has sporadic long thorns.. it will need serious pruning AWAY from that walkway ... google: rejuvenation pruning of flowering shrubs and start the 3 year process ... one of my faves on 5 acres [can get rather large.. and not suited to small gardens ... wide i mean.. not that tall] .. because its so early.. and so intense in color .... most of the very early flowers are pale ... not this one .... and.. apple like fruits in late summer.. that with 50 pounds of sugar.. will make a jelly ... Where are you?? Shrub (not bush!) looks a bit like Indian hawthorn, Rapheolepis. FYI, you will not have much, if any, luck grafting an azalea to a non-related plant type. It doesn't exactly work like that - in much that same way that human transplants (a form of grafting in a sense) must be from an appropriately suitable donor (and even then require anti-rejection drugs forever after), plants require a similarly suitable and rather closely related rootstock to be grafted onto as well. Rapheolepis is in the rose family (Rosaceae) and azaleas in the heath family (Ericaceae). To have any success with grafting an azalea, you would need to pick another plant from that family - Ericaceae - and preferably one with a similar DNA.
