All your natives look healthy and you certainly have done a great job in the presentation. In defence of the roses I don't have many but pruned in June we have several flushes from Septmber to late Autumn with judicious pruning along the way. good luck with both

even over here if a rose dies/looks bad I don't replace it. hard work and we had very dry summer,hard to keep the water up and we didn't have restrictions .

I wouldn't be without my roses for all the tea in China. They flower in Victoria from September and some are still flowering now in July and it is continuous joy too. I have to prune mine a few at a time as the old arthritis plays up, but the ones I had pruned first in early June are already starting to green up. Even with the lack of water, we are still on stage 4 in Geelong, it is worth every bit of time spent.

I enjoy the roses when they flower, but struggle with aphids and black spot. Last summer, I bought ladybird eggs as a natural solution to the aphid problem. I think it was probably just a waste of money as I think they just run their course. I usually prune the roses back hard over autumn and winter and I don't know how much of the black spot can be eliminated that way. Basically though, I prefer plants that bring wildlife into my garden. Roses don't really attract animals...
